Andy Vandijck
I recently rebuilt PPF-O-Matic because the original crashes a lot (on my machine anyway). It's now fully ub with 4 archs: - i386 - x86_64 - ppc - ppc64 Source is also available... Command line tools are also included... same notation... Enjoy... Now also available is PPF-O-Maker... a GUI tool for creating PPF files. I updated the source and I recommend this new version over the older one, it has a few bugfixes also for PPF-O-Matic... The new name for the full package is thus PPF-O-Suite. Hope you all like it... I updated the sources with a new target: Release Tiger It is now also possible to use this on the previous version of Mac OS X... EDIT: update, now capable of generating MD5 checksums... does so automatic after patching / opening images... EDIT2: update, now MD5 and CRC32 checksumming is possible and configurable... Andy Vandijck
I've just completed a torture test of my new version... Also verified patches work more than OK... It did over 10 million changes in a binary file of 200MB and undo on my slow machine in under 5 minutes! Screenshots are included below... Also included is a little program to generate these binaries... Make a PPF file with makeppf c -u TestA.bin TestB.bin Test.ppf And test it for yourself... gentestppf.zip
reddoni
on my nforce 680i sli mobo with 4gb 1066MHz ram and a quad core intel processor this completed the test for applying and undoing in 2 minutes and 25 seconds. running in 64 bit mode 1 minute 12 seconds to apply 1 minute 13 seconds to undo thank you again Andy
Andy Vandijck
Right now I'm also designing a Cocoa GUI tool to create these files... It would be a great benefit, wouldn't it? I'll keep you guys posted when I've completed this. Wait impatiently for this great app.

Development continues... EDIT: Mostly finished... I've got an app that works but at current with some errors... it tends to write 124B short in the patch file... don't know why yet... still debugging

Andy Vandijck
n00b If you can do it better loudmouth you can take a look at it... I still remember your old OS X releases... not even packages integrated in installer (Jas Kiko 10.5.8 remember...). You even called Netkas a noob when he released the Toh sources... I easily remember everything so... Don't bother anymore! I fixed it! It's people like you that make my stomach growl... Let's see if you can find the bug... then I'll revise my opinion... not before...
Andy Vandijck
I examined the code more thoroughly and made a document containing the file format of the PPF V3.0 patches... Now I now precisely how it works and I'm going to make a new patching routine... For those interested I'll upload the document... More work to do thus... Arial
Request honoured... check it out... Tested & Worked I think "generate MD5" feature would be nice if it as an option to turn-ON/OFF (check/uncheck) because generate MD5 of big file will took long time and maybe sometime ppl dont want it auto-generate. and MD5sum output would be useful if it saved as txt file or displayed on text box for copy/paste easily. Thank you for your great job, Andy.
