Hi all,

Let me begin with how I got in this mess anyways.

Before I had a fully functional Hackintosh system, or so I thought. Appearantly sometimes when I'd browse a lot of lolcats/pictures of funny or nude people the pictures would get all blurry like this.

post-349155-1237737924_thumb.png

I don't do this very often so it took me a looong while to find out.

Anyways I thought; maybe I should update my natit. Appearantly a new version has been released.

So I dl'd the new natit.kext and replaced it with the old. Many of you readers probaply go like: backup, you fool!

Well, I was 100% confident I already had everything backed up. Turns out I didn't.

Anyhow, the new natit didn't work. I deleted natit and ATI* in single user and thought I'd replace them soon enough.

So here's my problem, I have no back up so I'm stuck with 1024x768!

Now I've done some digging and it seems the new natit.kext(s) use a Lamna framebuffer? I'm fairly sure my working version used an Alkor framebuffer.

Now here's my problem; I can't find an Alkor natit and I sure as hell can't find a ATY_Alkor.kext plugin for the ATINDRV.kext.

Now here are my questions. Is it true the older version used an Alkor framebuffer? Am I doing the right thing searching for a natit.kext which utilises an Alkor framebuffer? Do I need an ATINDRV.kext with ATY_Alkor.kext?

Can you help me?

Thanks so much for reading this. I hope you can help

I realise some of you might think I'm just another noob who can't figure out how to install the pkg; fix permissions and clear the extensions cache. Unfortunately, I'm no such rookie. I've got a real problem here :(

This is my card btw: http://www.gainward.com/main/vgapro.php?id=71

I have added a report of my bootup process which I retrieved from Console. I hope someone can figure something out of this.

Things I have tried so far without succes:

Install the standard package as found in the insanelymac thread. Repair permissions; flush cache etc.

Install the natit.kext manually using the guide posted in the ATi subforum. Repair permissions; flush cache etc.

Use different kinds of natit.kext and manually install them.

When I first started to try and get this to work I have used numerous other options such as ALCInject and EFIstrings, those didn't work either.

I sincerely hope someone can help!

Okay so I fixed it.

It mainly had to do with using a legacy natit.kext (Triakis).

Still; this is rather strange. Right?

Could it be because my videocard's firmware is older?

Would anyone be interested in a guide on how I did it?

Hello,

I have the same graphics card and a similar problem:

After Installation i don't get them running with EFI string or Natit or something similar.

I'd try it with many different drivers, but no success

For a small guide like you've done the problem would be perfect.

Thanks

Okay I won't bore you with the silly details on how I found out how to do it.

Basically what you need is in this package.

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=1f3ab20...04e75f6e8ebb871

Extract the package and fire up terminal. Insert te following commands

sudo -s
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/ATI*
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/Natit.kext(Ignore any error messages)
cp -R *All kexts contained in the extensions folder* /System/Library/Extensions
diskutil repairpermissions /

Now reboot with the following boot parameters -f -v

Enjoy your screen's resolution
