You can easily install the Voodoo 9.5.0 Kernel, it comes with an installer. Don't forget to read the documentation first.

Your video card is not installed properly. Search the forum using either your cards device ID or model name.

You're using NVInject but it isn't working for some reason.

Try NVDarwin 1.2.5 - http://www.mediafire.com/?zgnwtzym2je

Remember to delete NVInject first.

Or try a device property string. You can use EFI Studio or OSX86Tools. Find with google.

Like deleting any other file..drag it to the trash!

It's in you extensions folder.

Don't forget to clear the extensions cache. You can use PcWiz' OSX86Tools if you don't like to type commands in the terminal.

bad noob.

Read the sticky post at the top again, only this time really read it.

You need a seatbelt.kext that matches your kernel version - or you can read my last post in the thread which has a useful tip in it.

Can you move the mouse?

Try rebooting with the monitor plugged into the other plug on your video card.

Try booting with -x -f, this will start up in safe mode (-x) reload your extensions (-f) and you should be able to fix things from there.

If you can get to the desktop, open your extensions folder and check if NVInject popped back in.. as I said you need to empty the extensions cache after removing a kernel extension. You can use OSX86Tools (google it) to do that, or you can search the forums and find out how to do it from the terminal.

If you can't get to the desktop, another way to delete a kext is to boot from your install DVD, enter terminal, mount your system HDD and do it from there. You'll have to search the forums to find out how to do that.

Hey there !!

I booted with -x -f and I got to the Desktop.

I checked extensions folder but there was no NVinject file in it.

I used OSX86Tools to empty the extensions cache i had written this to my previous post!

now what should i do ?should i get back to NVinject and delete NVdarwin???

as i see my video card is now recognized correctly...

but how do i know if its qe/ci enabled??

post-393996-1237321314_thumb.jpg

P.S. Is it normal that my processor is recognized as 3.8GHz intel C2D?

QE and CI are not enabled on your PC. It should say:Core Image: hardware and Quartz Express

You should first delete a kext and then clear the extensions cache. Basically any time you add or remove a kext you need to clear the extensions cache.

Hope you get it working! You can also try an EFI string: remove NVInject and NVdarwin and add an EFI string with OSX86tools.

The 512mb version of the 7600GS is actually very hard to get working. You may need to flash it's ROM to 256mb. For more info, search around, like this:

thanx for your reply :)

I have already removed NVinject so i should try removing NVdarwin.kext as well(and then clear ext. cache)

and try to add an EFI string with osx86tools??

thanx! i'll try this and i'll post the result :-)

EDIT: OK i did that... still the same problem... can only boot in safe mode..

so.. i've tried someones guide to get my video card to work

but i misunderstood some part of the guide and i deleted some kexts from the extensions folder that i shouldnt

(i typed rm -rf /system/library/extensions/NV*, rm -rf /system/library/extensions/Ge*, rm -rf /system/library/extensions/Natit*)

now when it boots it freezes at the grey screen with the apple logo. i cant even boot in safe mode.

can i do sth about that? any suggestions? :-)

Heh, you deleted all the Nvidia video drivers from the system!

If you have no backup of those files I don't know for sure how to put them back.

Maybe you can boot from an install DVD, work from the terminal and somehow copy them from the DVD back into your extensions folder. I've never had to do anything like that myself. If you search the forums you should be able to find the way to do that (if it is possible at all).

Or maybe you can run the installer again but ONLY select video drivers, nothing else...though the only OSX86 DVD I know of that carry a complete set of drivers is the new iPC from PCWiz (there are others for sure, you'd have to look up the contents on the various distro websites). Most DVDs only have injectors in the video section and that alone won't help you. I don't know if that's actually possible either.

That's all I can pull out of my *** for now, lol

I think you might be looking at a full reinstall.

yeah.. thats what i thought about....

so I reinstalled ipc and doesnt boot at all....

I erased the disk and start the installation.

The installation went ok.. but after i was asked to restart it keeps rebooting before it shows any screen.......

i cant even make it to the grey screen wih the apple logo.. wtf????

Did you forget to choose a bootloader?

Try booting up from the DVD and see if it'll let you choose your HDD as boot device at the F8 prompt. If it will, you probably forgot to install a bootloader on the hard drive.

I did the installation exactly same as the first time....

OK i booted from the DVD but it only let me choose the dvd as boot device...

so strange.........

ihave reinstalled it like 10 times but always the same.. i cant boot...

i even tried with iAtkos but still the same............................

OK i think i've made it.. I added voodoo kernel 9.5.0 to customize and it started like it should...

only this time i selected NVdarwin 512 for my card and i can only boot in safe mode....

can you help me fixing my video card???

Read previous posts by Synaesthesia. You have to flash the BIOS on your video card.

OK!! thanx for that too!!!

I flashed my card and everything seems just ok!

last question: why is my processor recognized 3.8 GHz?

and not 1.86???

What kernel are you using?

Before doing any of the things below, try installing the Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel.

If that didn't change anything, or you're using that kernel already, go ahead:

Open terminal and type

sudo sysctl -a | grep cpufreq (and your password)

To see your actual CPU speed. It should be normal there.

OSX can't get the right information from your hardware and sets the CPU speed wrong.

But that information is just cosmetic, as you saw in terminal it doesn't mean your CPU is running at 3.8 GHz!

Open System Profiler and check CPU and FSB speed under 'Hardware' and 'Memory'.

If it is wrong there as well, you can fix it with an SMBIOS injector.

There are different solutions out there. Here's a list of some of them:

This one is not on the list:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=129930

I use ChameleonSM at the moment but I think I'm going to try AnV's SMBIOS.
