eddiewould
Hi Guys, I have a SONY VAIO CR323 Laptop (http://www.sony.com.hk/press/pdf/20080617_01e.pdf) with the GL960 chipset / X3100 graphics. To make future upgrades as pain-free as possible, I'm attempting to install a Retail Leopard 10.5.6 (as opposed to Kalyway etc) using the 'Noob' Boot132 bootloader. I get the Grey Apple logo with the spinner, then I get a blue screen briefly then the famous black screen with vertical lines (at which point the machine stops responding). Has anyone managed to install a Retail Leopard on a Laptop with X3100? If so, please share what you did! Cheers, Eddie

Cheers, Eddie I downloaded a retail version that was converted to a .DMG and then used Transmac in Windows and removed the X3100.kext and Framebuffer and then burnt it on a DVD DL and installed it. After it was loaded I installed the working kext.
eddiewould
Hey, thanks for the reply. I deleted the X3100 kext and burned to a DVD and I got a bit further - I get the 'space/stars' Leopard background and beachball mouse cursor. The machine hasn't crashed per se - the mouse still moves, but after half an hour it's still not doing anything. Any other things I can try? You'll need an USB keyboard and mouse until you get the ps2 kext loaded. After the first boot I could boot OK. I installed the kext I needed for the x3100 video and it all worked fine. I just played around with it on an external USB drive. I have iAtkos installed on my internal drive.
