I suggest this, because there is a sticky discouraging asking questions, which kind of contradicts the Genius Bar's description, which probably (somewhat anyway) leads people to ask questions in there, when it obviously isn't meant for it. I suppose, you can ask questions within that thread, becuase it is to do with that information. However, making a totally new topic isn't really what it is intended for... Great point, Dax. "then ask" shouldn't be part of the description. i don't think you need to change the name, unless it infringes trademark or something. if you did have to change the name, i propose "Smart Bar" it's hip and fresh, perhaps more appropriate as well. changing the name, or the description however, will not reduce the number of garbage posts (bell curve) in that area of the forums. what i do suggest is a new way (i've posted on this before more than once) of dealing with inappropriate posts, simply delete them. this should be done regularly. you don't need a moderator, you need a janitor. as much as i despise responsibility, i hate clutter more. since i am in the forums multiple times a day, i could be doing something useful. if it's no more than clicking a button, and if you can't find anyone else who will take it seriously, and most importantly if deletion is the approved solution, i'll volunteer myself to janitor only the Genius Bar area regularly and consistently. it's really no skin off my back, and the situation irritates the hell out of me. Trying to avoid garbage posts in the first place may help as well - and the best way to do this is with a better search. We're planning a major re(in)novation of the site in the summer, and one of the positions we are going to create is exactly the kind you're talking about.
