zuz_242
The other day i read a posting explaining the workings of the (ATI) gfx "drivers". Unfortunatly i can´t find it now, so i wonder if anybody knows where to look. On the other hand i reckon it would be a good sticky for the drivers/ ATI section to have a thread explaining about injectors, kexts, id´s and framebuffers... EDIT: So i start gathering infos myself. Any additional info welcome! INJECTORS: Needed for telling OSX the ID´s of not officially supported hardware. Either on kext basis like natit.kext or via EFI strings. Radeon KEXTS: Kernel EXTensionS like ATIRadeonx2000.kext Resposible for acceleration, CI/QE. FRAMEBUFFERS: 2D Support, needed for resolution, dualmonitor.. Hidden in ATINDRV.kext - ATY_Alopias.kext - ATY_Caretta.kext - ATY_Hypoprion.kext - ATY_Iago.kext - ATY_Lamna.kext - ATY_Sphyrna.kext - ATY_Wormy.kext Hidden in ATIRNDRV.kext - ATY_Magalodon.kext - ATY_Prionace.kext - ATY_PrionaceB.kext There exists also an modified TRIAKIS framebuffer based on Lamna some info from here by sWORDs : As far as I knew Framebuffer should be: x1300 - Caretta x1600 - Wormy x1800 - Alopias x1900 - Alopias HD2400 - Iago HD2600 - Hypoprion (Natit uses Lamna) HD2900 - Franklin (not available in 10.5.3) HD3400 - Lago HD3600 - Lamna HD3800 - Lamna HD3800X2 - Triakis (not available in 10.5.3) I'm not sure where Prionace (not available in 10.5.3) and Spyrna are for. http://netkas.org/?p=23 FRAMEWOKS: Open-GL etc.. Interesting info as well: http://######.com/index.php?option=...3&Itemid=45 EDIT: Another link, see post 1319: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...526&st=1300

mcsmart
Thanks, looks good. Some updated information: As far as I knew Framebuffer should be:HD2600 - Hypoprion (Natit uses Lamna) HD3800 - Lamna On my 2600 PRO and on my new 3870 I use Megalodon. This might work with other Radeon HD cards as well. - mcsmart
netkas
Hypoprion used for mobile 2600 (in imac) for desktop 2600 (like in macpro) default FB is Lamna, Megaladon works too tho. and, triakis worked iirc.
