SATA DVD-ROM

OK first of all I want to thank you for taking your time reading this. I'm using iDeneb 10.5.5 v1.3 on an AMD Athlon X2 4200+, Asus M2N-MX, 4GB DDR2800, SATA DVD-ROM, SATA HDD, GeForce 8600GT 256/128. Anyway my main problem is: when I insert a CD/DVD in the DVD-ROM the system doesn't mount that DVD like I didn't even insert it...I can't eject the disk, the only way to get the disk out is by restarting the whole thing...I think i'm having this problem after I installed 9.4.0 StageXU (or how you spell it) kernel. I know when i had 9.3.0 I could read disks without any problem but on that kernel when i was using the HDD for high speed transfers I had kernel panic (that's why i needed to change the kernel to 9.4.0). Any suggestion guys? Thanks again for reading and I'm sorry for my bad english...
