hey guys, what's up..

i'm doing this laptop for my friend and i'm getting troubles with the video

it is running Kalyway 10.5.1 10.5.2 didn't wanna load at all

i have been looking around for about a week now in the forums and google and i got confused with all about it

some video card specs:

the lspci from linux says:

Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)

the Darwin prompt says:

VESA v3.0 7MB (Intel ® GM965/PM965/GL960 Graphics Accelerated VGA BIOS)

the system profiler of Leo says:

Display:

Type: Display

Bus: Built-In

VRAM (Total): 64 MB of shared system memory

Vendor: Intel (0x8086)

Device ID: 0x2a02

Revision ID: 0x000c

Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded

Displays:

Display:

Resolution: 1024 x 768

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Software

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

is it GM965 or GMA x3100 ?

is it GM965 = GMA x3100 ?

the AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext bundle don't seem to work (or i don't know how)

wen i first install, the boot freezes at the apple screen, ALWAYS, so i have to boot with -x -v or -x weel or -s and get rid of the AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext

and then does not freezes any more. but... i get this small screen (please see attached picture)

every since the installation starts, i get this small screen. (so i mean with or w/o the kext)

does the AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext info.plist needs to be edited? i was looking at it and it says GM965 in one of the <key> thing,

do i have to put the nomber like 0x2a02 in some were?

is the small screen due to the kexts? or some thing else?

i got confused also with the "boot in VESA mode" (sorry) is it just bear bones? no drivers?

ofcourse, no wireless, no ethernet

i have managed to get the audio working!!

with the rest i'll deal latter...

this is not my first hackintosh, i got two of them. Dell dimention 9150 desktop with a NVIDIA 7900 fully working!

and a HP pavilion laptop dv5 that was a pain in the a** to get the sound and wireless working, no video GMA4500 ;)

[uPDATE]

Reading around, i've installed Leopard graphics update.

now i get a complete scrambled screen, the two black lines from the picture go to the center right, and from there can't do nothing.

the system is alive, but i don't even see the mouse pointer

i'm almost sure that i have to edit the info.plist for the AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext

but.. i don't know what..

thanks!

Al

[uPDATE]

did not mention before that the Leopard graphics update didn't wanna install, so i have upgraded to 10.5.5

now.. the Leopard graphics update still does not wanna install, so i have installed with Pacifist and still get the scrambled "complete" screen

i've downloaded this kexts from here:

http://xtremevenomuk.co.uk/download.php?list.15

that i got the info from here, on post #6

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=146148

i know it is for 10.5.6, but i decided to give it a shoot

any ways... with that one i get the blue screen with the small screen (like in the picture)

keep you updated!!

thanks..

Al
