Hello there, anyone here got the 10.5.6 releas working together with ATI X1600 PRO Card? I am having hard time to make it work. Tried iPC included drivers, manual way of kext patching, and even some older packiges instalation, non of it worked... I always got almost same result... The blue screen blinked twice and then my LCD showed up "no input signal" seams to me like the driver works (after this happens I still can hear my hard drive working for while as it loads other stuff and even DVD mounts after while), but mybe the card is just sending signal in too HI refresh rate for my LCD panel... I also have it conected over DVI and VGA, so I tried both without luck... The iPC 1.5.6 PFF 5 is otherwise great... the installation went well and everithing alse works just fine... I only want the accelerated graphic now... Pleas anyone who solved similar troublem even on older releas let me know... thanx....

My configuration is:

MSI 865 Neo II PE motherboard

P4 3,4GHz Prescott

2GB 4x512MB RAM

Onboard AC97 - working with AC97 drivers

SB Live! - working with kxdriver

Intel ICH5 - working with iPC intel ICHx drivers

LG BlueRay Burner + Teac CD burener - not tested but recognized and marked as supported

onboard GB Realtek Lan - working without any aditional drivers

PCI Firewire koulwell - working without any aditional drivers

AGP Sapphire ATI X1600 Pro 256MB DRAM with 71c2 ID - no success sofar

using modbin's kernel 9.0.4

Thanx for any help...

All right I asked modbin for help since I know he made few driver hacks for his 1650 with success. here is his reply, I will try it later this week and will report what the result was...

Hi Kaucuk,

I made drivers for x1650, should also work for x1600. You`ll need the old iondrvsupport.kext and hack the x1000.kext binary to accept your device id (add it also to the info.plist). Also a must is a dvi2vga dongle. Since I don`t have that card any longer I stopped releasing drivers. Download my package for 10.5.4 and take a look at what I changed. It´s only one jump that you`ll need to patch. Good luck ;)

Okay. I tried the method described here, by using the x1650 driver by modbin and inserting my device ID into the info.plist file. And this method DOES work, but it seems to have really sluggish performance. The mouse leaves a trail whenever I scroll on a webpage in Safari, and any kind of video playback is very slow. Is there any way to get better support for this card? Thanks.
