play music with itunes from a ntfs disk

Hi I have all my music files on an external usb drive. if i want to play any song with itunes it copies it to the mac osx partition. Is there anyway around that? thank you

Take a look at the advanced tab under preferences...

just uncheck "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" from preferences -> advanced

don't forget that ntfs harddrives are mounted read only, so don't try to edit your mp3 tags
