Most important is AHCI as SATA mode. You can also disable COM and LPT ports as they are not used in MacOS anyway.

Thank you for your reply !

AHCI Mode is selected.

Serial and Parallel ports are disabled.

Execute-Disable Bit Capability is disabled.

I found Clover r4200 and installed it, but same...

vtec100000000rpm problem is he doesn't even get to Clover boot menu. This is due to BIOS not loading boot0af or boot0af not finding boot file on drive root which happens when your drive wasn't formatted right or Clover wasn't installed right. The easiest way to ensure that everything is in order is to boot Mac OS Installer from flash drive, format your hard drive with Disk Utility from Mac OS Installer using GUID partition scheme and Mac OS Extended (Journaled) file system, install Mac OS, boot using Clover from flash drive again and install Clover to hard drive.

well. that was fun !

I have finally got all versions from 10.10 to 10.13 loaded up onto my machine. Many thanks to chris_rock and martin953 who put me on the right path.

A summary of my experience is attached to this post as

ASUS P5N7A.pdf

hope this will be of some help to others - this might be an old board, but it's a goodie..

Now for a cheap upgrade to a Q6600 with 8GB ram.

Don't make the same mistake that I did.

Upgraded (!) to a Q6600 - neither Sierra nor High Sierra would load. You get the dreaded '+++++++++++++++++' error.

It turns out that both require SSE4, not supported by the Q6600 - DOH !

Q9300 on order - will report back

NWJ

UPDATE: Q9300 received and installed - fixed the problem - all four versions of the OS now working.

Note also that the latest version of clover that will boot this board is r3577, also the latest version of Clover is now r4318. I can confirm that the method outlined in the PDF posted above works with a combination of these two versions.

I succeeded booting another nForce board GA-E7AUM-DS2H by 'Franken' Clover.

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-E7AUM-DS2H-rev-10

I used the same USB memory which includes 'Franken' Clover.

The Install process goes without any problem.

But at the first boot from HDD, it reports "does printf work?" and hanged up.

Then I removed "kext-dev-mode=1" and added "slide=0".

It booted successfuly, but now it CAN boot without any flag....

The flag might have no relation to the failure.

Sleep seems to be OK.

Audio and LAN chip are recognized.

Hello,

I have this board too,

P5N7A-VM bios 519

Core 2 Duo E8400

8GB DDR2 Corsair 4-4-4-12

SATA2 HDD

Bios settings:

AHCI Mode is selected.

Serial and Parallel ports are disabled.

Execute-Disable Bit Capability is disabled.

I have downloaded the ASUS P5N7A.pdf  from nowhinjing post and succeed to create the USB key installer as he wrote but cannot boot from it.

It matters if the USB key is MBR or GPT formatted ?

NOWHINJING, Could you please share your config.plist? or what are the exact settings in config.plist for the boot?? (I'm not so experienced with boot arguments)

Thanks

If you download the file pack from

www.pughx2.com/assets/px2/files/p5n7avm.zip

you should have all you need

After clover boot options and after selecting 'Install macOS High Sierra" =>blackscren

For the avoidance of doubt, I have gone back and re-installed the latest version of High Sierra 10.13.3 from scratch.

Apart from requiring updated versions of LILU and AppleALC, both now at version 1.2.2, and using a mix of Clover 3577 and 4411, it works like a dream.

I have updated the file pack at

www.pughx2.com/assets/px2/files/p5n7avm.zip

to reflect these changes

Thanks for trying to help.

I suspect I have a RAM incompatibility (CL4 I guess)

Can U please tell what RAM are U using and what timing your RAM has?

What CPU are U using? (mine  Core 2 Duo  E8400 I think it supose to work)

What USB stick? USB 2.0 or USB 3.0?

I saw you bios settings -

Execute-Disable Bit            [Enabled] ? I read above it schould be disabled

As for Clover I used 4411 and 3333 and prepared a bootable USB stick 16GB 3.0 and a bootable HDD on sata, neither worked :(

I am using QUMOX 8Go (4x 2Go) DDR2 PC2-6400 PC2-6300 800MHz memory CL5, timing left on auto.

USB needs to be 2.0 as this is all the board will support - USB 3.0 sticks are supposed to be compatible, but ..

Your processor is OK for High Sierra.

hope this helps...
