ATI X1550 - Quartz Extreme?

Hi, I tried modifiing a driver myself following this description, but booting after inserting the modified driver caused my computer to crash (sort of flickering, then black screen).

 

I saw the Natit-driver didn't work either.

 

Is there any chance of getting the card to work properly or should I just get another one?

 

 

EDIT:

I know the guide was not supposed to be for the X1550, just hoped it could work the same way…

Thanks! Do you mean the EDID-data? And if not, where can I find it?

 

EDIT:

Sorry for the stupid question, I found it:

Device ID: 715F

Vendor ID: 1002

 

I also tried only doing the second part of what's discribed in the link above, but it didn't work out either.

Resolution works perfectly and even the PCIE 1x doesn't seem to be a problem running this card... If I could just get QE running I'd be a happy power Cube user ;-) Been trying for weeks reading and reinstalling with tons of kext files. No results.

 

Help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm testmusictest.

 

I have 2 X1550 card.

1. GeCube raedon X1550 model no. HM1550GE2-D3 Device ID:7146

2. MSI X1550(Only has a DVI & a TV out) Device ID:715F

 

Though I cannot use dual vga w/ this 2 card.

 

But I believe that I drive them perfectly.

 

1.) W/ the card Device ID:7146: No matter you use iDeneb 1.3 or XxX 10.5.6 final or iPC 10.5.6 final, DO NOT choose any VGA card driver during installation. You'll find QE/CI enabled by default when enter into the system. But w/ mouse cursor glitch.

 

Okay, here we go. Install this NatitX1330.kext, open terminal.app to do the "diskutil repairpermissions /" and then reboot. No need flag -v -f or anything like that.

 

Things are done now.

 

2.) W/ the card Device ID:715F: No matter you use iDeneb 1.3 or XxX 10.5.6 final or iPC 10.5.6 final, DO NOT choose any VGA card driver during installation. You'll find QE/CI NOT enabled by default when enter into the system. Glad that I have your ATIRadeonX1000.kext. Now I have QE/CI enabled by default when enter into the system. But w/ mouse cursor glitch.

Now you have the Great cheap X1550 card w/ QE/CI perfectly!!!

1. install the system without a specific driver (in my case I will have to check whether I need to remove the drivers, as I use an original where I cannot disable the drivers)

2. install the modified driver

3. install the NatitX1330.kext

4. repair permissions in the terminal

 

and I get a fully working X1550, without the graphical glitches.

Ok it was the HEX string which I was missing... That was probably what was causing the kernel panics. Stupid me.

 

Just an addition for anyone with the same device ID: you need to add a natit kext for it to work!

Thanks to all of you! I wanted to look into this when I had a little more time, but I guess I would never have had the idea of trying the Natit-driver in addition to the modified kext…

 

So have one of these virtual beers on me :unsure:

I have tried modifying the device id in the info.plist file (within ATIRadeonX1000.kext) to match my DeviceID (7183), but when I install the kext and reboot, I get a panic screen :-( I have checked in the Natit.kext (info.plist file) and my device id is in there( under ATI Radeon X1300).

 

I also tried removing the Natit.kext and rebooting, but I only got 1200 * 786 resolution, but still no QE support :-(

 

Does this mean the graphics card doesn't support Quartz Extreme?

 

In the above posts, I am unclear what is meant by the HEX file within the kext? Does this mean the hex values in the info.plist file?

 

Any help would be much appreciated

i've been searching through this forum.. but i never could enable QE/CI on my VGA Card

i've been used :

1. REV1_Empty_skull_x16x0 all id 10.5.5 -> install successfully (but never get into desktop mode, only shows blank screen with monitor indicator blinks)

2. Modbin_X1650_71c7_Working_Fix (already edit and hexing string 71c7 to 7140) (kernel panic)

3. NatitX1300.r1v1 (kernel panic)

 

Display:

VRAM (Total): 256 MB -> dunno why it detects only 256 MB

WOW, it worked! Thanks a lot! A few graphic glitches, but that's secondary! Would you mind sharing how you did it? My first priority was having it work, but understanding it would be nice, too…

Oh god... I had this wretched card when I was trying to install Kalyway. This card gave me problems even in Windows and especially in openSUSE. I've since upgraded to the HD4870 and while not that much better in the way of OSX compatibility it's really a much more solid card...
