well ive seen lots of useful replys. well done.

I must say i used ##### and installed 10.6.3 ; no kext installed so far and got everything working on the go.

except for webcam, wireless (never gonna work, i know).

i think there are lots of nice methods but one of them all must be the best, and someone who has tested them all must know it, so which is it?; id test them myself but i lack of expertise to do it, we should make an ultimate guide using all the knowledge from all the good fellows that have contribute in this thread, i ,myself can help in any way :)juanjojy@gmail.com thanks for the help everyone!!

(and srry for showing you the ugliest english youve ever seen)

Actually I gotta say, I recently wiped my drive and used the ##### + ##### method you mentioned, and I think it probably was the best method I have used yet. The thing is, as Apple constantly makes revisions and new releases to their system, the methods for installation on our machines keep changing as well. So it's rather unrealistic to be able to create an 'ultimate' guide... know what I mean?

P.S. our wifi cards may be supported soon -- check it

Its a bit old, but seems to be still somewhat alive. I'd love to see if the kexts on that page work for any of you -- the developer had the exact same notebook (P-7805u).

hahaha so its setled then, *for the moment* the ##### + ##### is the best method, i have used it and im fine with it, ive only used the battery gauge kext from your posts. but with this method any idea to have the build lan card ??

and what program do you use to install the dsdt's you post??? thnks dude!

To my knowledge, there is no way to get our LAN cards working. Also, you don't need a program to install the DSDT file, just place the file on the root of your Mac's hard drive. Unless you mean patch it -- in which case I use DSDTSE. Although apparently there's a better one out now. Idk the name of it...

Hi there, I got mine with Intel X9100 do you think it will work without problem aside from the known issues? and I have Windows 7 already installed, if ill use this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=236522 method will this remove my Windows Installation?

I'll try to do it later. Another thing I have the default 9c.17 BIOS I hope it won't be a problem.

Hello,

I am fairly new to this but have a basic understanding. I have been having issues trying to get my gfx card recognized correctly and working with Quartz Extreme. Unfortunately the basic result is scxreen corruption quickly followed by the system freezing on boot up. The best results I have had is gfx card recognized correctly with no quartz extreme. Below is my system and what I have tried up until now to get this working.

System

GateWay P7803h

9800 GTS 1 GB

T7350 Core 2 Duo

Mac OS X 10.6.5 (Retail install)

##### 2.6

##### 3.3 (Chameleon 2 RC5)

I have tried this with Mac OS X 10.6.3 - 10.6.6 and get the same results.

1. NvEnbaler tried in both /s/l/e and /Extra/e, I am sure this used to work for me but now I get this gfx corruption and freezing on boot up. Removed nvenabler.kext system is more stable. I assume it is using some generic driver as I am getting 1280X800 and in system profiler it is listed as GPU w/32 MB vRam. (But no flicker or freezing)

2. Tried booting with 'GraphicsEnabler=Yes' switch that I read somewhere in this fourm which resulted in the old behavior of freezing/flickering and gfx corruption.

3. Have also tried installing various drivers, tried NvInject and other suggestions i picked up from various forums. All get me same results.

4. Best results were when I manually injected gfx strings into the apple.boot.plist using the link below. With this method my card was recognized correctly in System profiler but no QE. I did try to manually add my device ID to nvdanv50hal.kext and nvdaresman with same results.

(Link of post i followed to do this) http://aquamac.proboards.com/index.cgi? ... 509&page=1?

(Post I created when no QE)

I am not sure what to try next, I have done several reinstalls after trying a couple of methods. I think I may try to follow a DSDT guide I saw somewhere in this site.. but if someone has a better suggestion i'd love to hear it. Or if someone kows how to find out what the conflict is, as far as I know my card is supported with Graphicsenabler=yes strin g so I have no idea what the problem is. I am beginning to think it may be a hardware issue but everything works fine in windows...

Hmmm. Weird, never heard of this issue before. We don't have QUITE the same card, as mine is a 9800M, but that shouldn't make too much difference. This is a weird suggestion, but have you tried it with... nothing? Full graphics have been working for me straight OOB ever since Leopard/Snow Leopard. So, maybe try removing all of those tweaks from your system?

One thing I don't see mentioned here is the pciroot=0 fix. That has made all the difference for me before. Try searching for info on that one (it's easy).

Another thing I'd really push, though I know this is a generic answer that nobody wants to hear, is a clean wipe and reinstall. Start over from scratch. A lot of times, especially with these more quirky issues, it is just an unexplainable corruption or something. It's funny how even when following all of the exact same steps you can get totally different results with this sort of thing.

Could you maybe post a screenshot of what this stuff looks like? Also try booting verbose with -v flags to see if you get any interesting messages.

Thanks for troubleshooting & searching & trying stuff on your own before posting.

EDIT: nvm, I didn't see that you'd already tried bunches of reinstalls. My bad

Hey TheOriginalPol,

Thanks for the reply. One thing I would like to clear up is we have the exact same card, typo on my part. My card is 9800M GTS as well. I am beginning to wonder if it is an issue with my gfx chip. One other thing of note is I may have updated my bios in the last few months. (Well.. I did update the bios but I cannot remember exactly when.) My bios version is 9C.25 I believe. I repartitioned the drive , reinstalled Mac OS X and used #####/#####. I just installed the ##### install and when I boot up with graphicsenabler=Y I get this funky gfx corruption and freezing. I will attach a picture taken with my iphone. (Cant screenshot as system freezes) I also have an output of my system profiler ill attach tomorrow which has the system.log of my last failed bootup. With graphicsenabler=N string I can boot up but gfx card is obviously not recognized properly. So I'm at a loss. Either it's a bad gfx chip, bad bios, or im am just missing something. Did you have to remove any of the Apple extensions.. for some reason I faintly remember having this issue when I first made installed Mac OSX (I may have failed to mention I had a stable system running for a good 6 months when I ran into this issue, it was a few days after I had updated to 10.6.6 but I am sure it was running fone for a few days after the update)

Ill tinker around some more, uploiad that system profile report and check -v for anything strange.. is a log created when you boot using verbose?

Thanks for all the help!

**Uploaded Mac Pro.spx (system profiler report) had to change the name of file to Mac Pro.txt.

I figured out my issue! As stated below I had updated the bios so I figureed what the hell, I will reflash back to 9c.23 and do a fresh erase and install.. and it worked! I used the #####/##### method with retail SL. With ##### I used ##### install and for gfx to work all i needed was graphicsenabler=Y. This was so frustrating but hopefully someone else will elarn from this, anyone with this notebook, DO NOT flash to 9c.25 bios!!! (On the gateway website there is an FAQ about gfx corruption and blue screen in windows after flashing to this version of bios.

Thanks to OriginalPol for taking the time to help, I havent had any response in other fourms, so I appreciate it!

I would like to keep this thread alive, as it is really the only extensive resource for establishing OSX on the Gateway P7805u laptop.

I was able to get 10.6.8 installed onto the laptop, it kernel panic'd upon installation and once it rebooted, the mouse cursor was frozen to the top left corner of the screen and both the mouse and keyboard were unresponsive, as if they weren't recognized as being connected. Once, I restarted with the power button, everything seemed to fix itself upon a second reboot. This is using Interpol's custom DSDT.

Now, enter OSX Lion. I downloaded the update from the app store, and via TonyMac's guide here.

I was able to create a second partition and used Xmove to transfer the Lion files over to the secondary partition. However, when I try to reboot into that partition, the computer kernel panic's and reboots itself.

Anyone else have success?

I have to say, ever since my tech support job gave me a free 17" i7 MacBook Pro a few months back, my FX has sat cold on my shelf. I actually just decided the other day, though it pains me dearly, that I'm going to sell it :-(

If anyone's interested, here's the ad. 1920x1200 screen + an extra, AirPort Extreme card, a second HD, and comes with 3 batteries! I might even knock $100 off the price for my fellow InsanelyMac users :-)

This has been a great machine for me... good luck to you all with your future hacking! Peace and love!

I just upgraded to lion 10.7 with xmove+#####, and have a few questions as I'm not too great with hackintoshes, I'm relatively new to it, I want to fix a few things, I understand the wifi link 5100 is not supported, but my battery gauge, webcam, and multi gestures such as the 2 finger scroll aren't working, how would I go about fixing those, and also I can't seem to get the Ethernet connected on it

Any help is appreciated thank you, I have a p-7805u btw

Ok well I will do my best to answer your questions, as I also have some for you. I'm typing this currently on my 7805u in 10.6.8 Snow Leopard by the way...

(1.)The stock wifi card doesn't work, you have to buy an apple wifi card, such as the AR5BXB6. It is also recognized by default in windows, as I think it uses the same chipset as an Atheros card, but I could be mistaken. That's what I currently have in my laptop it took a few minutes to install and worked right away. I dualboot into Windows 7 and OSX. (2.) The battery gauge and webcam aren't supported entirely. There is a kext somewhere in this thread that does get the battery gauge working, but in the past after I installed it I had problems with my computer and I had to reinstall OSX from scratch. I don't know if that had to do with the batter gauge kext or not, but I didn't want to risk it again. As for the webcam, it won't ever work. Your best but is to buy a cheap Logitech webcam or even use the Xbox 360 webcam, that's been verified to work. As for multi-finger gestures, I can't exactly answer. I am able to use 2 finger gesturing on Snow Leopard right now, but that may be a different story with Lion. I'm using the Voodoo PS2 and Trackpad kexts from #####. Are you using anything?

Ok, my turn. What steps did you go through to install and get Lion running properly? I could get as far as having Xmove relocate the installer to the secondary Partition, but once I tried booting from that partition it would give me a kernel panic and that was it.
