YES... does anybody else have this problem??

Look at this screenshot.

The console log entry for this action is:

1/15/09 6:45:38 AM Pages[1622] Authentication request error: (-60001) Too Many Apple IDs registered for this serial#.

Help!!

I love iWork and iLife, and I purchased them both last year (08 version), but I'm thinking of 'cutting back costs' this year, so there we go.

I also bought Leopard.. the box set is a heck of a good deal.. but for people who already bought Leopard (majority of us), it may not be.

Anybody know of a fix for the problem I referred to above?

Thanks.

Everyone-

I have two computers running Leopard. One is a Mac Book Pro and the other is my Dell D630 HAckintosh. I installed the same iWork 09 on both computers using the same serial and i can only log into iWork.com through my real Mac...this may have something to do with the system profiler ID as mentioned above. I will try and get to bottom of why it is working on my real mac and not my hack-mac

Hey guys,

I can confirm that this issue is related to the serial number that you'll find if you open System Profiler. Many OSx86 people use W1234567890 and that seems to be the problem.

But the good news is: it can be easily surmounted. What I did was download HexFiend and then copy AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext from /System/Library/Extensions to another folder. Then I opened Contents/MacOS/AppleSMBIOSEFI in HexFiend and searched for "W1234567890" (be careful, the W has to be an upper-case one!). Then I picked "Enable Overwrite Mode" from the Edit menu and changed some of the bytes so I got a different string for my new ID. I saved the file and replaced the old one in the Extensions folder with it (before I did that I made a backup copy of the old one, just in case something goes wrong).

Then I rebooted and boom - I had a new serial #. Now iWork.com works seamlessly for me. I hope I could help. :)

Note: In case you follow the steps mentioned above, I am in no way responsible for any damage to your system.

Hey, is there no 'safer' way to do this? I always get extremely nervous when messing with AppleSMBIOSEFI. Or, did this work for you flawlessly?

Thanks.

Can anyone confirm that this does work? Hex Editing files on a whim is dangerous. Any other solutions out there?
