I installed kalyway 10.5.2 and my dvd disappeared. i updated to 10.5.6 and thought maybe it would fix, and it didnt. I have been installing kexts for ati southbridge 600 ata controllers, trying differnt things and no help, my hardware says that there is no ata drives installed. I have 2 dvd player/writers installed and they were both installed when I installed os X. I also have had kalyway installed before and it worked fine, im using the same install disk and updating with the asu 0.5 utility. btw. I am on a Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2 motherboard with an athlon 64X2 4000+, 300GB sata drive, and 2 IDE dvd player/writer and 2 gb ddr2. hope someone can help me out. thanks!!!!! Marclh Posted January 13, 2009 Share Posted January 13, 2009 Try replacing your old AppleOnboardPCATA.kext with this one that I have attached. It has a small chance to make your system not boot, but it hasn't happened to me. kunphuzi0n Posted January 13, 2009 Author Share Posted January 13, 2009 Replaced, just made system boot super fast, x2 faster, but when i put in a dvd, nothing, i go to system profiler under ATA it says: This system does not contain any ATA devices. If you have any ATA devices installed, please check that they are connected and powered on. I have gotten everything else to work great so far, but this is a big head scratcher. It worked when I had the same build installed before, i reinstalled because I wanted to use all the space in my sata. The drives worked flawlessly before and I want that back!!!! I think there is a fix for SB600 let me get back to you on that one. Back to the previous post. Obviously not yet but in the future you may have problems with running programs without QE/CI. Any thoughts? Well if you ran any of the commands in my other post then you should have a copy of your extensions folder. You would restore all those kexts. No change. I want my darn dvd to work. I guess ill just reinstall kalyway. thanks for the ideas and help! [EDIT]What about going to the store and buying an IDE to USB converter for 15 bucks. Would that work? Or is it a {censored} shoot?
