How to enable Quartz Extreme and Core Image in 10.5.6?

Does anyone know how to enable Quartz Extreme and Core Image in 10.5.6?

I have GeForce 7300 GS card which has been working fine with Kalyway 10.5.2, including QE and CI, dual monitor support, etc.

On updating to iPC 10.5.6, the card still works in every respect except that I get a -70017 error when trying to use DVD Player. I'm guessing that this has to do with the missing QE/CI support, as noted in System Profiler. I have tried modifying NVCAP, without success.

I've searched this forum for specific instructions on enabling this support by modifying the appropriate kexts, but without success so far. Can someone point me in the right direction?

thanks

BD

I tried NVKush previously with no luck.

However I have now got it to work by changing the IOProbeScore paramter in NVInkject 0.2.1 to '0'

thanks

Thanks. This didn't work for me. But I found some information on another thread that put me on the right track. I edited the NIVinject.kext plist to change IOProbeScore from 60,000 to 0. That enabled Quartz Extreme and Core Image Hardware support on my next restart.

Thanx a bunch mate! You're a {censored} genius! You really saved my ass! I've at last reluctantly taken the steps to upgrade from Kalyway 10.5.2 up to 10.5.6. Everything worked like a charm, except that little thingy about Quartz Extreme. I've tried various solutions but this one really made my day! Good work!!!

Now I just have to fix my bluetooth keyboard and mice connection, they feel a bit flaky, a bit unresponsive. Any ideas!?

regards T

Graphics cards like yours *should* work straight off in any properly made installer, like your old kalyway. However it is clear from this tale that a single little edit is better than a boxful of pointless tools & gizmos. Glad to see you got it fixed :)

Mine NVinject.kext already has IOProbeScore set to 0, but still no QE/CI. Maybe I have to edit another param? Could you post your NV kext's so I can compare them with mine? Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem with my 7950gt. My IOProbeScore is set to 0 in my NVInject.kext plist, but i can't get QE working. I've tried EFI strings also with no success. NVDA40Hal, NVDAResman, and Geforce kexts load with no problem, so what else can it be?

Thanks

Just got Leopard installed today. Running a 7200GS 512. But no QE.

Downloaded the latest NVinstaller v.52.

Ran it and selected the vanilla and 512MB install.

After reboot, I had QE enabled.

Good luck.

(Now if I could only get my XFX 8600GT 512 to work I'd be a happy camper)

I have a ASUS Geforce 7200 GS not working with any options any idea?

I have same Vga Card and works perfect,

1- If not installed install latest Nvidiainject 0.2.1

2- Open NIVinject.kext plist and change IOProbeScore from 60,000 to 0.

3- On terminal -> sudo rm -r /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

4- sudo kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions

5- Reboot than you have perfect working VGA

I just have to say THANK YOU for writing this. This finally let me get my card working.

NOTE: It only worked for me when I made the same edits to the com.apple.boot.plist file that was in my MacHD/Extra Folder. (has something to do with how Installed chameleon or something I guess.)

Once again THANK YOU SO MUCH! This was so much help.

Ok I have a 7300 LE 256 MB will this work?

I have tried so many things to install and i really dont know how to get my drivers to work, either i boot with no drivers, or i have drivers and osx freezes right when it gets to the desktop, but the mouse still moves..

last i tried was 9f23, with efi studio, i also tried just nvinject 4.1 i think it was, then the drivers that come on the Ideneb 1.4 dvd and it did the same thing.

I am new to osx, but iv been trying to install for months, and the last few days finally got it booting, got sound working, everythings working im on it right now, just with no video card installed.

so can someone help me get past this, nobody ever replys to people who need help, whats the point of the board, iv searched for days, and nothing has worked, but i know there is something im missing, so if u have a idea of what i need to do, or something im missing let me know, and also let me know how to do it, because like i said im stilll learning, and not sure how to do everything...thanks seriously

nobody ever replies to people who need help?! Really? I see hundreds of replies to people who need help.

I dont think pointing your finger at fellow board members claiming they suck at helping people, is going to get you much concern for your problems

OH MAN!!! Thank you so much for posting this!!! I realize it's an old post, but I've been fighting my OSx86 box for years trying to get QE and CI working. I even bought an NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS card thinking it would work - but it never did!

I just did a fresh install of IPC 10.5.6, and used NVinject 0.2.0 and I could get 1920x1200 resolution, but there was quite a bit of "tearing" if I dragged windows, and Mac was reporting QE and CI were NOT on.

I did your little trick and rebooted - BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE! Now it's all working great! I even found a thread on how to run the Apple Updates, and now my box is fully patched to 10.5.8!!! BEAUTY! Thanks again!
