Dont mix both !!! EFI gfx String (link to ATY_Megadlon.kext / within ATIRNDRV.kext ) works/needs original ATI drivers (Apple, >= OS X10.5.5) - be sure sou have them. (You get them installed by AppleCombo 10.5.5 or AppleCombo 10.5.6 Update) The other , lastexiles .pgk uses NATIT.KEXT (for my knowledge) - may also work. Only do one way - do not mix both !!! deanyx Posted January 4, 2009 Author Share Posted January 4, 2009 I don' t mix this 2driver i install one thus one don t work then i reinstall ideneb and i install the second driver I am an italian user and i don t understand very well how can i install the driver. install i the efi string megadlon then the originalupdate or 10.5.5 but i have this update because i have the ideneb 10.5.5 and the efistring don t work. They are in the free Apple OS X 10.5.5 / 10.5.6 Combo update. www.apple.com , then Downloads OS X , Combo Dl If you have tried to use EFI gfx String , but not working: 1. check your com.apple.boot.plist (/Library/Perferences/SystemConfiguration/ ) There must be an extra entry device properties..... Not only the normal things like kernel_flag.... If there is no such device, you perhaps had not saved/let the EFI Studio do the write chamges of the plist! Looks like this Kernel mach_kernel Kernel Flags macmodel=MacPro3,1 Timeout 2 device-properties **** THATS EFI STRINGS ****** 590b000001000000............ 2. Before install all again first check the ATY Framebuffer drivers. You need for EFI String an ATY_Megadolon.kext which is in the file ATIRNDRV.kext (in finder show contents) there in the plugin folder must be that ATY_Mega...kext. If not you dont have the right drivers for EFI string. I added screenshoot of ATIRNDRV.kext. ATI2000X drivers are now Version 1.5.36 (finder info of ATI2000X.kext) , you should have at least 1.5.31 if you installed 10.5.5. 1.5.24/.28 is to old. 3. If you have an other gpu used before, check if you have such gpu fixers like NATIT.KEXT or NVCUSH.KEXT installed. They MUST be removed from the extensions folder ! And also, before reboot i would remove extensions.mkext (Driver cache) also 4. For using lastexile packadge you must check same, only use the natit.kext installed by lastexile, no others. 5 You can also look in the system.log (startup messages at boottime logged) by opening konsole.app (in dock).
