I just installed Leopard with the 10.5.6 upgrade. I used a 123-boot cd for my board, used the method described here

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=79096

after 10.5.6 combo update ran DSDT Patcher GUI, UNIVERSAL OSx86 INSTALLER, and P5K-SE INSTALLER for the following kext (which comparing my P5E board to the P5K, shouldn't have caused issues):

  • ACPIPS2Nub.kext
  • AppleDecrypt.kext
  • AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext
  • ApplePS2Controller.kext
  • AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext
  • AppleVIAATA.kext
  • AttansicL1Ethernet.kext
  • Disabler.kext
  • HDAEnabler.kext
  • IO80211Family.kext
  • LegacyAppleHDAPlatformDriver.kext
  • OpenHaltRestart.kext

After the first install, graphics was at 800x600, so removed EFI plst in documents folder, and used OSx86 tools and recent EFI studio to get new EFI string for Nvidia graphics and injected. Then, ran all processes OSx86 tools gives options for: change permissions, etc. and rebooted.

Everything seems to work just fine (ethernet, sound, etc.), with my card running in quartz, and my Xbench score in around 150. My only problem is that sometimes on reboot, as well as normally after the screen saver comes on (note: no sleep is enabled), I get a blue screen with no mouse or anything. I should also mention that at my present resolution 1280x720, it is slightly too big for my plasma (overwrite?), and am working on doing a custom resolution with 688 instead.

I am not sure how to address this graphics issue, i.e., should I can/can I remove the previous EFI string and re-do? If someone takes the time to check this out, I really appreciate it since, although I know linux (not BSD) and windows, I have no clue how to exactly address this issue. Thanks a ton.

I am attaching a text document with the system log. The initial boot ran until the blue screen, whereas the second boot ran, did the blue screen, but came back on.

If anyone has checked it out this post, a few things I have answered, and a simply question:

1) I understand the CPU ratio change, though not sure why it did it. I have an E8400 on this board, and the guide I followed had me put it at 08.0 and it was strange that it was changed. Either way, it doesn't change anything.

2) If you check out the sys log, apparently the error 35 can be fixed by IONetworkingFamily.kext which is here

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=17974

originally here

3) For my final question, about injecting an EFI string: how dependent are these on 10.5.5 or 10.5.6. I know there is EFIstudio as well as 9f23 and since 10.5.6 is fairly new, I was wondering if I would have better luck just sticking to 10.5.5 for now?

Thanks again to everyone who has checked this out, and any input would be great.
