@PCWiz: Great work. Thanks for releasing this.

This will help you to proceed with the installation. and get past the blue screen.

UPDATE Jan 05 2009: Now you can do this by applying ppf patch. Please verify if this ppf is working .

Download ppf patch:

I have created a updated Extensions.mkext based on Darwin 950 drivers. This fixes the blue screen problem during the installation with intel chipsets (For given Device ID) problem with intel chipsets.

Also while installation you may require ps2 fix for keyboard.

Mount the image with

hidutil attach <iso file name> -readwrite

Replace the file in /System/Library of the DVD iso

gettin error:

hdiutil attach /Users/XXXX/Desktop/iPC_OSx86.dmg -readwrite

2008-12-31 00:03:18.199 hdiutil[2524:10b] _CFGetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35

hdiutil: attach failed - Die Ressource ist zeitweilig nicht verfügbar

in english ... => #ressource temporarily not available#

if i try to mount the iso without "-readwrite" i get the same errors - except "ressource temporarily not available", but the image is mounted - read only...

I also am having problems after download trying to extract with winrar I get error:Extensions.mkext.rar: Invalid or corrupt authenticity information.

Edit:tried extracting the boot info of original .iso of iPC beta and put it in the .iso with replaced mkext will update if it works for me.

Edit 2:Oh well that didn't work either tries to boot but then just restarts the computer. Guess I'll have to wait for a ppf or someone smarter then me to fix it. thanks anyway

Hats off to pcwiz & his team !

I downloaded from the pbay, inserted ppf/ppf2 burned to DVD.

I have a lenovo 3000, which was running 10.5.5.

Wiped the disk & tried to instal this distro. But during install, at the first blue background; the system just waits there !! does NOT go further! Tried many times.Anybody experienced this?

Looks like the initial boot screen requires a higher resolution than 1280 x 800...

I had the same problem installing this ISO and hooked my desktop monitor to my laptop and made it as the primary display... Installation went fine and I installed the right graphics driver for my laptop... I left my external monitor plugged in till the OS successfully booted up the first time and I DIDN'T make the external monitor as my primary display during the restart...

Once it booted up successfully, I unplugged the external monitor...

hey dude, i could have created a ppf patch to fix this blusscreen issue but i think the Extensions.mkext pack you uploaded is not very working. tried it three time never worked and alway get an error when extracting with winrar.

using ultraiso to edit PC bootable ISO images leaves the image non bootable.

If you download an ISO of a Linux distro, for example, you had to burn it as is. If you wanted to open it, you had to make a copy and open that. The copy could never be used to make a CD because it would cause the installer to fail at the checksum stage.

Yeah I have discovered that ultra ISO only saves ISO volume, where as the ISO image is hybrid volume i.e. HFS/ISO. Saving in ultraISO saves only ISO volume and dumps HFS+ volume.

If you have a mac running try using hdiutil

As far as rar is concerned you can try using second link. That will give you extracted file.

Poweriso keeps it bootable but it didn't fix the drivers for me. I extracted the graphics drivers from an 10.5.2 install the other day, and I have the ppf tool, if I get around to it (and it works) before an official patch comes out, I'll let this thread know.

Yeah beacuse of the reason specified above. Try ppf. Please note that it will support the given device id only

hey harrydeo,

it does fix the blue screen dilemma, bravo for that.

what kernel did you use? the installation took about 10mins which is kind of scary. i didn't choose any but i think it install voodoo by default.
