I know that many people are running a more current OS. I just wanted to give support for anyone who's flat-out having problems getting their 8600 GT video card working satisfactorily after the 10.5.3 combo update.

After the combo update, I had many resolutions available, but Quartz Extreme wasn't working. I ran the nvinject v.52 (http://www.mediafire.com/?kn9jpyan1gd) and chose 'vanilla' during the card selection and now it works perfectly.

I also had to disable hard drive sleep in the power manager to provide stability for my system. It kept putting one of my hard drives to sleep, then it wouldn't really come back to life when needed.
