Actually, Vista does not support EFI in this release or the final release in '07.

That will come at a later point, possibly 2008? with a Vista update or product refresh..So while it is having issues with EFI, it is due it lack of EFI support in OS.

That's not the problem. XP completely lacks any EFI support, yet it will intall and boot correctly. The problem, as stated before, almost definitely lies in partition or winload problems.

I still disagree. Looking at my latest Vista build I see large amounts of EFI files and directories for Vista. I am still quite sure it is this that is causing the problems. Furthermore I have noted that the MacBook sees the DVD as having EFI components durring boot. I can still semi-boot the CD (that is its detected as a bood device with EFI components) BEFORE the new firmware was applied.

Vista install went smoothly until the reboot, now I get the error message that it cannot find \windows\system32\winload.exe

Any advice or people having the same problem? (using macbook pro)

I tried installing the latest beta of vista (bulid 5342) on my intel mini core duo with boot camp and it came up with this same exact error message.

Haven't been able to find a work-around.

Hopefuly someone can figure this out, because the current option requires sacraficing OS X for Vista. Am I the only one that thinks this is a bit of a lop sided trade off? ;p
