IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext/Contents/Info.plist you will find this:

	<key>Description</key>
	<string>Mini-FL-2008</string>
	<key>model</key>
	<string>Macmini3,1</string>
 </dict>

and...

  <dict>
	<key>Desc-Key</key>
	<string>CFG_MCP79</string>
	<key>Description</key>

I always assumed that sales of the Mac Mini would be big, as in iPod-big but Apple didn't market it very well. Also, while this community has been a great source of free advertising for the otherwise relatively obscure and mysterious OS X platform... and great for Apple at getting many of us hobbiests experimenters to move onto looking into buying gorgeous looking Macs when they have the budget to do so, the same can't be said for the Mac Mini because few hobbiests here have been trying to emulate the Mini, in terms of small form factor.

The price point, as with a lot of Macs, was nutters and yet it was and is a fairly unique product. I hope Apple market this one with gusto and get the price point right, just for once, instead of apparently being obsessed with trying to avoid hitting the mainstream! I love my Mini more than any other piece of hardware that I own. People still ask me if it is very posh cookie tin!

Does the case need changing? I think the existing model is a design classic of minimalism and function and I hope the back plate retains the same level of connectivity. If Firewire is left out, which seems to be a trend, I will just have to stick with the old Mini that I have.
