mactoids
Here's another AppleScript for showing hidden files. I got this script somewhere when I was running Tiger but it still works fine for me in Leopard. Run the script and a dialog box will pop up asking if you wish to show hidden or if already hidden, asking if you wish to rehide again.
np_
why you just don't use "SetFile" , located at /Developer/Tools ?

Meowpard
Yesterday I found this crazy show/hide widget. Don't blame me if don't see your desktop elements any more. It needs several attempts to work properly. I was in desperate need of showing some hidden linux files on an USB stick. After showing up (.filename) i renamed them to (filename)
cvad
Show/hide hidden files in Finder. unHideIT.app Easy and convenient. Switching hide/show of hidden files by icon pressing in the toolbar © cVaD v1.1 New: Saves open Finder's windows. SticMAC™
Great Idea, BUT.......... After installation, working with it is a pain!! If you have four or five folders open and you attempt to do a Show/Hide with it, it closes all the Folders!(wth?) Attached is a similar app, that when activated, merely changes from Hide to Show and keeps all current folders open. Maybe you can have a look inside to make yours the same!? On the installation: You HAVE to drag the unHidden.app to a folder on your HDD first, BEFORE dragging it up to the MenuToolbar AND you HAVE to eject the mounted unHiddenIT.dmg for it to work properly! Also(on a personal note) maybe the name should be "unHideIT" "hidden" is past tense, and there is no such word as "unhidden" and it looks dreadful on the toolbar with that name!? SticMAC Thanks for you reply. 1.All the Folders closes because Finder must be restarted for changing status hidden files. 2.On the installation: As you see on picture, the app is dragging to the MenuToolbar from Utilities folder, but not from mounted unHiddenIT.dmg. But Thanks, you remark will help somebody. 3.That's right the name of app is changed. 4.You attach not work for me. Good luck
