virustu Posted December 3, 2008 Share Posted December 3, 2008 Hi all! I have a TC konnekt 24D which i can not make it work properly. I get sound stuttering and dropouts all the time. My system is: HP workstations xw6200, 1 GB ram STLAB firewire PCI card (Using TI chipset) TC konnekt 24D with the latest MAC OSX drivers and firmware. Kalyway 10.5.2 (Default install, everything works except TC konnekt 24D) TC konnekt 24D has been reported as fully working with a Hackintosh, thats why I bought this soundcard. I tried installing kalyway 10.5.2 on my AMD X2 4200+ computer, this has a Gigabyte Mainboard with TI firewire chipset included. The strange thing is that nothing works, no network, no usb, but except for the TC konnekt 24D. This somehow works??? The sound plays and I no longer get the Firewire dropouts. LoL. Maybe i will use this as my hackintosh from now on, but I thought Intel was suppose to run better.. hrm . Anyone running Logic pro with a AMD cpu? virustu Posted December 5, 2008 Author Share Posted December 5, 2008 Ok, I finally made it worked. It turns out that the ST-LAB card is not compatible with the TC konnekt 24D. I tested 3 cards with 3 different chipset: ST-LAB F132 (NEC chipset), did not work. Sound dropouts! ST-LAB F161 (TI chipset), same problem here. SDM PCI Firewire (Via Chipset), works 100%!!! The cheapest card (40$) worked, while the two other st-labs that cost twice as much sucked pretty bad. I dont recommend ST-LABs. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Hmm maby it´s a bit more complecated than that better start recomending people to try and see. The strangest thing happend when I recomended the card I have. The guy reported back it did´nt work and my card works perfect. Probably it´s the combination of harware (both computer and soundcard) you have that makes it work or not. Probably it�s the combination of harware (both computer and soundcard) you have that makes it work or not. yep, it seems more TI-all-the-way people are waking up to the facts at hand presented concisely here: http://www.podcomplex.com/blog/is-a-ti-firewire-controller-vital-for-your-audio-pc/ just wanted to drop by to say i'm learning all this the hard way (like most of us) but i appreciate the heads up about st-lab. not to say it wouldn't work for me, as i've a foxconn motherboard, but i was starting to wonder why most VIA and TI chipset fw cards were still pretty expensive while the st-lab (at least the ones i found on ebay) weren't quite as much. was about to grab an st-lab as my next tester but found a VIA that someone's not using anymore that i'm getting for 8 quid. happy days! hope it works. looks like we need to start compiling/chart a page of combined motherboard vs. card+chipset success and failures. there are already plenty of people out there trying to get their firewire audio equipment to work who have nothing to show for their efforts but headaches .. but we can use those headaches to pave the way for others! let's go! Hi there I got Firewire st lab f-161 cost 49€ and it's working great with M-Audio Profire 610 and it woking too I got GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3LR , Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
