hi all,

im relatively new to macs, though not computers in general, so please excuse any osx-specific ignorance of mine

i have a new(ish) macbook pro that i want to use for home and professional work. i work in the tv and film industry, and so work with various graphics applications. as a hobby i also create electronic music, so have various sequencer apps and plugins. so far now i have had all these, plus personal stuff such as browsers, bittorrents, music and photos et cetera et cetera all installed on the single OS of my MBP, which adds up to alot of apps and content, and has proved to become a pretty sluggish.

apart from the performance aspects, i feel uneasy placing all my eggs in one basket, so to speak... i like to keep things nice and clean in my working environment, and having all this content on the one partition isnt really working for me. i was considering partioning my drive into a smaller one (for general use), and two larger drives (one for audio, and one for graphics). though managing 3 seperate versions of osx seems like alot of work. would this be a good idea or just completely stupid?

basically im wondering whether osx has any functions im unaware of that might cater to my problem, or whether anybody has any other suggestions

cheers
