nesk Posted November 20, 2008 Share Posted November 20, 2008 Hello everybody, i'am using OS X and Ubuntu on a Dell Inspiron 9400. Since I have installed OS X i cant boot Ubuntu. I dont have the Option to boot Ubuntu in the darwin boot manager only mac os x. I am new to this. I would be happy if someone can help me. partymetroid Posted November 21, 2008 Share Posted November 21, 2008 OS X must have installed over the MBR, where booting information is held. It overwrote a booting program called GRUB. Fear not, you can reinstall GRUB. Reinstall GRUB, using the tutorial found here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=224351. Add Mac OS X to the file /boot/grub/menu.lst where you see boot items. Add it just before "### BEGIN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST" if you want it to appear on the top of the boot list, or add it right after "### END DEBIAN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST" if you want it to appear at the bottom of the list. Add this line to GRUB: title Mac OS X root (hd0,2) chainloader +1 and select "Mac OS X" when you boot up GRUB. I hope this works... *crosses fingers*.
