Slither2008
Introduction This is a basic guide to setup your iDeneb v1.3. I prefer to use the iATKOS v4i and there is a 10.5.4 guide I wrote earlier found here as it has everything below + Speedstep working great but for those who can live without Speedstep and want 10.5.5 then read on... By following this you will get the following working (basic level): Sleep, Restart, Shutdown Bluetooth Audio (Input & Output) Video with QE/CI support Finger Scanner Firewire Battery Status Wake from sleep when Lid opened What you can get with more tinkering (intermediate level) Video with VGA output in Dual Mode not Mirrored Speedstep (work in progress) PCMCIA What I haven't got working completely: Intel Speedstep (Issues getting the ACPI pstate values or in other words mhz and voltage table from kernel) Brightness Control (I've attempted reggie_se hacks but I can't get the backlight to dim) SD Card (Impossible at this stage) Installing iDeneb OSX 10.5.5 Time: 30mins Step 1. Boot DVD with no F8 options. Step 2. Click on the arrow in the bottom right to continue Step 3. Click the "Utilities" on the Mac menu bar. Step 4. Click on "Disk Utility" on the Utility Menu. Step 5. Select your HDD you wish to install then click the Partition Tab and Volume Scheme. Step 6. Select 2 partitions for the Volume Scheme and select the first partition then set the name (just use alpha-numeric values). Then select the Mac OS Extended Journal Format. Step 7. It should look similar to that below. Step 8. Do the same for the second partition select it then name (just use alpha-numeric values). Then select the Mac OS Extended Journal Format. Step 9. Lastly click the Options button. Step 10. Select the GUID Partition Table radio button and click ok. Step 10. Click apply to apply the changes you've made. Step 11. Close the Disk Utility window. Step 12. Click the continue button to start the setup. Step 13. Click agree. Step 14. Select the MACHD drive and click continue. Step 15. Click the customize button. Step 9. Select the following options then click 'Done'. Step 16. Click the skip button. Step 17. This should take around 15mins so just wait even when there's not much progress. Step 18. It will automatically restart so just be patient. Again this could take 5mins or so. Step 19. Let the intro play...only goes for a minute. Step 20. Time to setup the basic settings....select your country. Step 21. Select your keyboard layout. Step 22. Select the Do not transfer option then click continue. Step 23. If you have an AppleID enter it here with the password. It will retrieve your address details for the next page. Step 24. After you enter your personal details click conitinue and on the screen answer the 3 questions and continue. Step 25. Click the I don't want to buy MobileMe option.....unless you do. Step 26. Click Go! Step 27. First thing it will ask you is to fix the 'shutdownfix' patch we installed, click fix. Step 28. Click Restart for the fix to take effect. Step 29. Wait til the PC boots back up. Now to fix sleep open up your MACHD drive. Click Applications on the left pane, then open iDeneb Apps. Step 30. Double-click on the KextHelper app to start it. Step 31. Download the "AppleACPIPlatform.kext" from my #2 post below. Open another Finder window (Click MACHD) and navigate to where you downloaded the file. Drag it into the KextHelper program, enter your admin password and click 'Easy Install'. Step 32. Click Ok to install and when it finishes click Ok and restart. Post-Install work (Screen-shots coming) Sound card Setup (Full mic/headphone/internal support) Time : 5 minutes Step 1. Download the ALC861VD-setup.mpkg.zip from my second post #2. It will automatically extract the contents and start up the setup for your audio (ALC861chip). Step 2. Follow the prompts and select only the Toshiba driver. Restart when finished. Step 3. DONE! Dual screen instructions coming soon....
Slither2008
Download Drivers Sound Driver (ALC861) http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=36773 Sleep Driver Intel Speedstep + GUI (Not completely working) http://xnu-speedstep.googlecode.com/files/...edStep.kext.zip http://xnu-speedstep.googlecode.com/files/SpeedStep.zip Links of Thanks xnu-speedstep team MadTux and his IntelHDA work iATKOS team for making the ONLY "AppleACPIPlatform.kext" that allows sleep on this laptop. iDeneb team for the great 10.5.5 release! Slither2008
hello where is the sleep driver thanks The reason it is not up is that I have investigating why it only worked with iATKOS v2i AppleACPIPlatform.kext and why the new iDeneb AppleACPIPlatform.kext doesn't work. I believe I found the reason. iDeneb's AppleACPIPlatform.kext can be fixed easily by following these steps below. Step 1. Open Finder Step 2. Navigate to /System/Library/Extensions/ Step 3. Right click on AppleACPIPlatform.kext and select "Show Contents". Step 4. Open Plugins. Step 5. Remove the Thermal kext. Done. Step 6. Delete this file "/System/Library/Extensions/Extensions.mkext". This file is your driver cache and it is good to delete this whenever you change your kext drivers. Step 7. Restart using -f option. Step 8. Finished. I'm at work right now but if this doesn't work I'll email you my copy when I get home. Regards, Slither2008.

Vini
Many thanks for your guide, I followed it using iDeneb 1.4 (10.5.6)... Whilst my install is not 100%, I've got the desktop running! I'm using a slightly different model laptop, to be precise, a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 PSAAPE-00U00KEN. It took 5 me attempts which seems to be about the average from what I've read! I used the following customizations; Chipset: ICHx Fixed Kernel: Kernel 9.2.0 Sleep Network (Ethernet): Intel100ProVE Fix (AppleSMBIOS): Apple SMBIOS MacBook Fix: Firewire Remove Fix: PowerOff_fix Video (Intel): GMA950 Applications: KextHelper Applications: OSx86 Tools As of now, I have no sound, and more severely, whenever I try to mount a .dmg, I get Kernel Panic. Not sure how to fix this, or what the solution might be, but seeing the desktop is enough for me tonight!
ethereal123
May I ask what is this fix for : Fix (AppleSMBIOS): I tried different installs on Tecra M5 toshiba(North Bridge: Mobile Intel Calistoga-PM i945PM; South Bridge: Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M) without this fix..installled successfully but hangs on first restart at apple logo (tried different setting). guileverne
Hi, could someone activate Quartz Extreme on the Toshiba A100?
Slither2008
I know these replies are late but here they are anyway. phosphorus You should be fine to just reinstall selecting the right kext. Have a look here regarding the banding : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=125954&hl= Vini To trouble shoot the kernel panic you should open up the system console up under Applications->Utilities. See if you can find any unusual messages and have a check on google in case someone else has come across them. For the sound you should find out what audio chipset you're using. There are usually drivers floating around here or on infinitemac.com ethereal123 You'll need to trouble shoot what it's hanging up on. Try booting with the -v option and see where the log stops at. guileverne Try using PCWiz's OSX86Utility to enable it through there.

Slither2008
Hello Slither2008, Can you make the Internal Intel wireless card work? If yes, which driver should chose? Thanks. Hi bluefall, I don't own this laptop anymore but I believe at the time I was using it there was no Intel 3945AGB driver/kext available. I would recommend you purchase a compatible Wifi Mini PCI-Express card and remove the keyboard. Have a look for very small tabs on the outer edges of the keyboard tray and use a flat precision screwdriver to gently push them all in. I can't confirm this is the correct procedure but maybe if you have a look for some video demonstrations on Youtube it might provide some clarification on how to remove it properly. Once you remove the keyboard tray swapping the cards over should be a pinch. Regards, Steve. [update]: Because I'm nice....and no this isn't me in the video...lolol....hope this helps clarify things : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcM9knr_P4Q

Did you installed a patch for it after finished installing iDeneb? Thanks. That's strange, I don't think I had to edit the kext, it should have worked outta the box. Try some other kexts on insanelymac and each time you install a new kext remember to remove the /System/Library/Extensions.mkext cache file. It gets rebuilt when you shut down/restart. You can also flush the kext cache when you boot using the option flag '-f' Good luck!
