Am I allowed to? It says were not allowed to ask questions in here... But anyway, I'll give it a shot...

OK I got a MAcbook , a white one, and I've downloaded a little video clip which says it is 'mpeg' format. It's got the little blue Q for Quicktime logo in the middle of the icon. When I click to play it, it says 'this is not a video file'. etc. I tried downloading DIVx and it doesnt work on that either. (does divx even play mpegs?). and i also downloaded the divx componentry for the quicktime player, but i still cant play mpegs.

forgetting all that; how am i supposed to play an mpeg file on a macbook? whats the standard procedure??????

i managed to master 'downloading torrents' the other day, using 'transmission' which is a fairly straight forward procedure..... and im trying to master RAR files too... but it does seem to be rather tricky. (they say macs are more simple than pcs but ive got my doubts.... playing around with the window frames can be really tricky, man, and annoying sometimes)...

anyway... first things first, what shall i get (for free) to enable me to play mpegs (is there one for mpeg 2 3 and 4? all rolled into one?)

And also, whats a good free software for opening up zip files? does RAR for mac do zip files or do you need a different program????

Thanks man,

Would really appreciate it if you could set me on the right tracks... i think once youre used to a mac, then things get easier (????)

Smarti.
