Ok...here's the deal...yes I am a newb when it comes to trying this...but I am a tech, so I have an understanding of hardware. I have a series of questions...if anyone can/will help me do it right the 1st time. Below is what I did yesterday, what happened, and some questions I have. Again...and help would be GREATLY appreciated...and if I'm posting in the wrong forum...admin please direct me to the right place for the best answers. You guys SHRED!!

I'll start with my hardware. All drives are eSATA.

System Build:

XP Professional x64 SP2

ASUS P5E - bios ver.0903

Intel Q9450 2.6Ghz - OC'd @ 3.48Ghz

Zalman 9700LED Cooler

8Gb(4x2) Corsair Dominator 1066 DDR2 (5-5-5-15)

EVGA 8800 Ultra 768Mb PCI-e

ASUS & LG DVD Burners

WD1500 Velociraptor 10,000rpm (OS drive)

WD5000AAKS 500Gb x 2 - one cloned(exact copy)for OS backup & one for storage(video,music,drivers,etc.)

I tried loading OSX Leopard (Leo4allv3)yesterday and ran into trouble?

I already downloaded Leo4allv3 iso, burned it, and followed the instructions I found on this site.

I partitioned one 500Gb drive and left 150Gb on the back end for the OSX install.

In order to install...I set my bios to Configure SATA as AHCI - JMicron SATA/PATA Controller to Disabled, and boot from CD.

I never saw the "boot:prompt" but just typed -v -x and it began loading.

After the install of Leopard...system rebooted...and then wouldn't see my drive?

I realized I didn't put the command C:\chaino="OS X" in the boot.ini

I did a repair on the XP os, and once done, I put the dual boot command in

When I restarted I saw the dual OS choice menu...I chose OS X but when it went to load I got the error of(don't remember exact phrase) couldn't load kernel?

I also remember seeing(in a youtube video)about what drivers to choose for the install.

I tried it again and chose nVidia, generic sound, and ACPI power...after re-boot....I got the same message? What did I do wrong??

Questions:

1. Which version of OSX should I use that's the easiest to load?

2. I want to put OSX on the back end of the cloned 500Gb drive so I don't touch the main XP drive and still want to dual boot.

3. When installing OSX...what drivers do I need to use that will work best? I am using the onboard sound and network apdapter. SoundMax and Marvell

Yukon 88E8056 Gigabit Controller.

4. Can I use Acronis Disc Director(which I have installed) to make a dual boot system with different drives? (XP on one and OSX on another?

5. After I get OSX installed...can I put my bios settings back to normal?

6. Which OSX version should I go with? I have the hardware build for a BADASS OSX System and want to make it WORK!!

1. Which version of OSX should I use that's the easiest to load?

Ans. You can use iDeneb, Kalyway or even iATKOS.

2. I want to put OSX on the back end of the cloned 500Gb drive so I don't touch the main XP drive and still want to dual boot.

Ans. No problem but for that only remember that your partition where OSX in being installed should be set active with id=af.

3. When installing OSX...what drivers do I need to use that will work best? I am using the onboard sound and network apdapter. SoundMax and Marvell

Yukon 88E8056 Gigabit Controller.

Ans. It depends upon your hardware spec. Choose accordingly.

4. Can I use Acronis Disc Director(which I have installed) to make a dual boot system with different drives? (XP on one and OSX on another?

Ans. Acronis makes a mess. Use Chamelon or Darwin Boot Loader (search this forum for install instructions)

5. After I get OSX installed...can I put my bios settings back to normal?

Ans. I think there is no need to change your bios settings. Just keep them as original and try to install.

6. Which OSX version should I go with? I have the hardware build for a BADASS OSX System and want to make it WORK!!

Ans. Go for latest (10.5.5).
