My ideneb hackint0sh, has suddenly refuse to boot.

I get the error "System config file /com.apple.boot.S/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.boot.plist not found

I was able to start using the mach_kernel command in the darwin boot menu.

Anyone know how I can replace that file and get my system working normaly?

I have searched the forums and all i found was the "mach_kernel" trick...

I have exactly the same issue. Yesterday i got kernel panic (gray apple screen saying i have to gold power button to shutdown) just after i chose to shutdown my laptop. Today i get this message

system config file ' com.apple.boot.S/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found

-v -x, -s flags doesnt help. any flag i type i get the only same message and nothing more.

what is the trick mentioned above, to make mach_kernel boot?

how do i fix this?

i did not change anything, that could affect boot, no updates etc.

maybe i should boot from retail dvd, get to the terminal and add this com.apple.Boot.plist ? But some of you guys would have to upload this one for me.

thanks

Hi.. I just experience the same thing today on my 10.5.5 Leo.. after it hangs on me trying to run Disk Utility.. so I force shutdown by pressing the power button for few second..

Then, start again and the message comes out "system config file ' com.apple.boot.S/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found" .... :(

I was like, "Damn!... Should I reinstall the whole thing!".. then I google around  and found this post.. with no answers.. :thumbsdown_anim: ..so I google some more.. . somebody mentioned about GParted, JMicron and blah, blah... I was like, "What the hell are you talking about!". . Then, I try to boot using the iDeneb V1.3 10.5.5 installer, hoping theres a 'repair' or 'make bootable' button.. still.. doesn't solve the problem after a few reboots... "{censored} it!" ... Then I go to sleep.. zzzzzz... -_- waking up.. I say.. "Lets try the GParted approach"... So I downloaded the latest GParted iso from http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php and burn it on CD.. Boot on it and see my Vista partition... do some checking.. and then, make it "boot" using the GParted Manage Flag.. Reboot... then.. Hey!!! I can boot my Vista!! (YAHOO!!!).. Then.. I go to sleep.. zzzzzz... -_- waking up.. I reboot on the GParted CD... Right click Manage Flag on my Leo partition and set to "Boot".... Reboot and ... my OSX came back!!! (YABEDABEDU!!!).... :thumbsup_anim: (HAHAHAHA!) :hysterical:

UPDATES:

Using GParted for a few times, I discovered that the "system config file ' com.apple.boot.S/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found" problem is most probably because of the bootable partition matter.. somehow playing with partition causing the OSX partition boot capability to shift to another partition.. or whatever.. .. so.. keeping a GParted bootable CD helps!!.. I think.. (HAHAHAHA!) :hysterical:
