Beavis2's Guide to cloning OSX partition to identical system

Step 1.) Create a .DMG backup of your partition onto external using Carbon Copy Cloner

Step 2.) Boot from DVD (IAtkos V4i - 10.5.4) with external and internal drivers attached

Step 3.) Create a partition with GUID

Step 4.) Restore Partition to new using Disc Utility from .DMG on external

Step 5.) Set the partition active using Terminal

COMMAND CODE: (must be correct disk # and partition #)

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0

f 2

w

q

Step 6.) Take out DVD so you know its booting (in some instances it will boot with DVD and not without. Weird but true!)

Step 7.) I rebooted once to see if it would boot it didn't. I got the blinking cursor.

Step 8.) Rebooted from DVD

Step 9.) Went into install and did a custom install of only Darwin Boot-loader. (It said that it failed)

Step 10.) Crossed my fingers.

Step 11.) Success! But it was running a little weird. (lagging slightly) Final Cut needed Key but CS3 didn't.

Step 12.) Repaired Disk permissions in Disk Utility.

Step 13.) Rebooted. Crossed Fingers. (Thoughts of windows blue screens race through my mind. hehe)

Success! And No Laggin!
