I REALLY need your help. I have a nVidia GeForce 6600GT 256MB RAM graphic card... My device id is (pci\ven_10de&dev_0140). I cannot find the right drivers for my graphic card... I've tried the nvinject drivers, and nVidia Installed v.1.9 by Punk92 but none of them works for me..What happens is that after i install the drivers and reboot my screen starts to flash.. I somehow manage to open preferences and go into display, change the refresh rate and resolution, but the blinkikng never stops...even after a few reboots... Now, I really need a solution for this problem because i really want to use Leopard OS X on my pc.. I've managed to solve my network card problem and this is the only problem left for me to solve.... That's why i NEED YOUR HELP....

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!

Sincerely,

Saso

Try NVkush or Natit.

When You are able to work normally – try to make EFI-string for this card.

Let me explain you something... I've tried NVkush and it didn't work for me... Because it is for nVidia 7xxx and 8xxx graphic cards... Then i tried nvinject, and after i restarted and booted into leopard my screen started flashing... Somehow i managed to open preferences and change the resolution and the refresh rate... After a minute or two the blinking stopped and everything was ok... I was happy...But suddenly after a half an hour my screen went black and only blinked for a milisecond from time to time... Then i reinstalled iatoks and tried Natit... After i did the command lines and restarted my pc, when i booted into leopard the system was frozen... Then i reinstalled leopard again... And because i was really pissed of i searched for something else... Then i found insanelymac Nvidia Installer 3.0 Beta Version by Punk92... I installed it rebooted and everytihg was perfect.. There was no blinking at all... I changed my resolution and refresh rate corresponding to my monitor (1440 x 900 and 60Hz) and everything was fine... But after 35 minutes of working my screen went all black... I've waited for a while and nothing happened.. I tried rebooting and again nothing... And because i was really angry i turned my computer of... After 5 hours I started my pc and supprisingly when i booted into leopard everything was working.. The graphics were OK... But again after half an hour my screen went black again... And this happens constantly to me... I can work into leopard for some time, then my screen goes black.. restart doesn't help at all, but turning off my computer for some time sure helps but that is not the solution because i don't want to have limited work time in leopard... So i really need a solution for this.. Maybe the solution is in your suggestion: "When You are able to work normally – try to make EFI-string for this card.", but I don't even know what an EFI-string is, and i surely don't know how to make one.. So if you would help me make one and solve my problem i'd be very thankful... PLEASE HELP ME!!! THANK YOU

Actually – Natit, NVkush and NVinject are "injectors".

They help OS to identify Your graphic card. In Your case (GeForce 6600GT) – NVDAResman, GeForce, NVDANV30Hal kexts and one of the injectors (or EFI string) do the thing.

For help on EFI and nVidia card see Netkas forum. Pay attention to VRAM size setting.

Or, maybe it's much easier – download and install OSX86Tools from here.

One more thing. Does your screen goes black in the middle of your work? Or this happens when computer goes to sleep (after some period of inactivity)? If so – try to disable sleep state.

It happens in the middle of my work... Now i reinstalled leopard again and installed the insanelymac nVidia installer 3.0 Beta Version by Punk92 and i also installed EFI string for nVidia GeForce 6600GT 256 MB RAM (i found the EFI Strings on the iATKOS v.4.1i installation DVD) and i am waiting to see what will happen after a while of working in leopard... To be honest i don't know what VRAM setting is and i don't know how to find out. And also i don't understand what you mean by: "In Your case (GeForce 6600GT) – NVDAResman, GeForce, NVDANV30Hal kexts and one of the injectors (or EFI string) do the thing."... Keep posting... I'll let you know if my graphic card works OK with the efi strings that i installed...

EDIT: Again my graphic card doesn't work even with the EFI Sting installed... Right after i wrote the first part of this post i booted into leopard and my screen started to flash, it flashed for a couple of times and than went black...PLEASE HELP!!! NOTE: I am using Chameleon bootloader because i have Windows Vista installed on my pc also, so i am dual-booting...

ITo be honest i don't know what VRAM setting is and i don't know how to find out.

OK. If you maked EFI string by youself, like discussed in Netkas forum, then VRAM size (or memory size 256M) should be written as 0x10000000

My point is: for nVidia generation 6*** cards – driver is NVDANV30Hal.kext. Two others – NVDAResman.kext and GeForce.kext must be also present in Extensions folder. And then – ONE OF the injectors must be installed, OR the EFI-string must be passed as a kernel flag...

Make sure You use ONE OF THE METHODS. I.e. – if using one injector – DON'T use any other or EFI-string. If using EFI-string – don't use ANY of the injectors (delete Natit, NVkus, NVinject kexts from Extension folder and refresh kext-cache).

EDIT: Again my graphic card doesn't work even with the EFI Sting installed...

How did You do this? I mean – how did You received the EFI string, that You currently use? Did You do all necessary steps, or used some helper program to generate it?

To be honest – EFI string didn't properly worked for me either (no QE/CI). Therefore i used Natit.

EDIT: are you sure this is not the overheating problem?

OK... Now let's see... I used the EFI String that comes with the installation dvd of iATKOS v.4.1i... I didn't make an EFI String on my own because i don't know how.. (I know you gave me a link to netkas forum but it is difficult for me to figure it out, I am too young)... So can you give me links to some drivers like Natit, NVDAResman.kext NVDANV30Hal.kext or some other that might work with my graphic card... I will give you all the details you need about my graphic card but please help me get it work.... Once more i have nVidia GeForce 6600GT 256MB RAM.. THANKS

EDIT: What do you mean by: "are you sure this is not the overheating problem?"....??????

OK. Let's leave EFI-string alone for now...

NVDAResman.kext and NVDANV30Hal.kext – are stock kexts. If you don't have those, try this direct link from Diabolik's site. Also, You may try his NVkush kext. Maybe it helps.

EDIT: What do you mean by: "are you sure this is not the overheating problem?"....??????

Is Your card cool enough (mean temperature) ;)

Do You have some other OS installed? If answer is YES, do You have the same problem there?
