I'm not really sure where to put this so I put it here, if there is a better (appropriate) place where it could get more coverage, feel free to move it there.

I figured this would interest you guys since the whole OSx86 project wouldn't even be possible would this actually be real and happen:

The End of the Internet?

So far using google I haven't been able to find anything to explicitly prove or disprove this, but it scares the {censored} out of me and I thought it was worth spreading around.

i work for a company based around creating websites for companies. i dont think that this could ever happen. even if the top 20 IPS's made this their only packages for internet, people would just not get internet which would drive everybody into bankruptcy and our economy as a whole would be 100 times worse off than it is now.

there are far too many "big sites" out there for ISP's to do this and limit you to visit specific sites. it would almost seem to form a monopoly for companies to have those websites so I dont buy that this could happen.

Very scary thought, however the big ISPs aren't the only ones out there. One quote that I found in an article about this that really tweaked me was "Why should they be allowed to use my pipes? The Internet can't be free in that sense, because we and the cable companies have made an investment, and for a Google or Yahoo! or Vonage or anybody to expect to use these pipes [for] free is nuts!". That quote was by Ed Whitacre, who is the chairman and CEO of AT&T. God I hate AT&T.
