ati radeon hd2400 problems

I've followed every set of instructions (including the sticky in this section about this card, another one which suggests to get a kext from netkas from a specific day, and some installer packages from this forum as well) making sure to delete all the ati and natit kexts before each try, and I still can't get my PCIe ati hd 2400 card to work :) It has an odd device id of 0x94cc which doesn't appear to be very common at all (3 results in google for "0x94cc hd2400").

Each set of kexts/installer packages give me a different result (dvi never works for any though). I either get a black screen, a grey screen, or a weird pattern that changes for a little while then settles on white with grey spots. I'd be happy with just more resolutions than 1024x768. QE/CI would be nice, but just to have it on my widescreen without stretching is my first priority.

Has anyone else had problems like this? If not, can someone suggest a card with a device id that is known to work? I have no problems sending this one back for another one that will at least give me more resolutions and preferably QE/CI.

Thanks in advance!

I have the same PCI is yours a Visiontek PCI HD2400 Pro I have tried everything the closest I have gotten has been with Ideneb 1.3 I selected the ATI X series driver and when the first boot is about occur the thing starts spinning and the apple looks very small like it is a large resolution but then it gets frozen. I am willing to compare notes and kexts etc....

Have you tried starting up with the -v boot option to see why the machine is freezing? Every time I try to use it, I never get any information on why the display is failing so I'm wondering if anyone else gets any info.

I have an HIS Radeon HD 2400 Pro PCI. System Profiler tells me it's a PCIe card though which is kind of weird.

I've used the following installs/tutorials...

I just removed all the kexts and the natit from the last shot and it boots okay (1024, ugh). Now I'm going to try installing the Leopard Graphics Update (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/leopardgraphicsupdate10.html) and the newest Natit from netkas. BTW, I'm using Kalyway 10.5.2 so if I can't get this working, I guess I'll try one of the other ones I have and then maybe iDeneb. Thanks for the input.

Check it out I did a -v boot and discovered that it picked up the card as an x1600. Remember I said that it look like it was a high resolution when I accidentally picked the X series driver so I did another clean install this time only selecting ATI X \1600 the same thing it looks like it supports the larger rez and gets stuck right before you get the desktop during the gray screen with the spinning thing. What I am going to do is mount the partition and edit the Plist and add the PCI ID and see if it will then boot normally will post once complete.

Well, I did a clean install dual boot vista 64/iDeneb 1.3 with no video drivers and it loaded so thats were I am I guess until I can get ci/QE there is not much I can do. I cant install or run iMovie , FC etc... If you have any news please fill me in. What is up with it its like our stupid device ID does not work with any Kexts. This card is the only card that runs on this box Dell Poweredge 1800 I am screwed I guess. I even bought a PCIe Adapter and 4 video cards and nothing. Guess I am returning all the extra cards now except the 2400. Feeling discouraged.....
