ok..I have a Asus M50sa series notebook which utilizes the mobility radeon HD 3650 with 1gb ram. I have almost everything working exept the video driver! I can provide the hardware info here:

Bus Type PCI Express 2.0 x16

Bus / Device / Function 1 / 0 / 0

Device ID 1002-9591

Subsystem ID 1043-1633.

I dont know much about OSX, just enough to get around. I hope there is a way to get a driver made. Please help as I searched and searched and searched all over the site but only found drivers for the regular radeon hd 3650 which didnt work. thanks again!!

Hello everyone,

Same as Bigkave : I bought an Acer Aspire 5920 laptop with the HD 3650.. can't change resolution, etc....

I tried everything, netkas drivers, lastExile drivers...

i overheard that "mobility" chipsets are not supported on os x.....?

I'm currently using kalyway 10.5.2, I also tried retail leopard in 10.5.5, but as i read that the update killed QE/CI on most graphic cards i don't hope much with that one.

That seem weird but it was quite hard to install the card in vista (with officials ATI drivers), and i was stuck in the same resolution as os x...

If someone could help, it would be great :D thank you !

Its not looking very good for ATI mobility GPU. The same gpu shows up in the dell studio 1735, but there is not even a hint of progress. I am not technical, but it seems there is a world of difference between the desktop and laptop models of the gpu, so far the desktop radeons work, but nothing for the laptop versions.

goodluck- check the ell thread also- just in case something pops up.

Yeah they seem to be distant from desktop world, but...

Netkas posted something a few days ago : New Macbook Video Cards. When you check the device-id of the cars supported you'll see...

0x95981002 is Ati Radeon HD 3650

0x95911002 is ATI MOBILITY Radeon HD 3650 ;)

I have to reinstall osx on my computer and try to extract the pkg for the 3650 from the apple update : Macbook update

maybe we'll see something great and mobility working !!!!!!!

well, im getting my studio today, hopefully. I will try and see if there is hope. Is there any way to poke around the mackbook update.pkg in windows. Do think,it will be as simple as installing the kexts...or will there me more to it...probably more to it..alwyas is...good job on spotting that...i will post this in Last exile's thread, as well..maybe it will bring more attention to the mobility

cheers

I tested the macbook update on a virgin 10.5.5 with vanilla... I installed all the ATI kext, the result was not succesful...Garbage screen at boot. As netkas said in the thread, this might be a problem of the framebuffer. I'll try the framebuffer available in the OS X labs. I'll maybe post my result in the last exile's thread, and as you said tonetime, let's bring mobility to life !

Cheers :)

yeah, it would be awesome if we could get it. I am still waiting...rather impatiently for the studio to arrive, it will the very first thing i try on it when it gets here. frambuffer, is this the magladon thingy, i read something breifly. but i will do some more reading on it....good one you mate...hope fully something is in the works...

maybe if we look at the mobility hd2400, maybe something to go on...im all over the place.

http://netkas.freeflux.net/blog/archive/2007/09/ - i know this link doesn't have much info, but i will be looking at mobility in general, rather than product family, if that makes any sense...

i'll be back

I've the same issue. Running a Toshiba A300 with Mobility Radeon HD3650. Everything works well (using a Kalyway installation) except the graphics driver (and the internal web cam and wireless, but these i am not so worried about, though any suggestions welcomed).

I have posted a project in Elance to see if I can get someone to build a driver, but so far no bids.

If anyone comes up with a solution would be most grateful. (If someone does take up my project to create one i'll be sure to let you know here)

I've got the exact same computer with the exact same problem..... But, I couldnt find drivers for the sound card either. You wouldn't happen to remember where you got yours, would you? ;) Oh and good idea with going to Elance, though they may take awhile.

Hi! You can find the driver for the sound card here. I've the same computer with Realtek ALC268. :)

I had no problems with the soundcard with the dafault settings in Kalyway. Probably not optimal but ran audio software fine.

I have had many projects developed through Elance before without too many problems. This time though no one has bid at all. I even sent a request to 30 dedicated Mac developers.

Guess the problem is they need the same hardware to test on. I spoke to one of the programmers who works for me and he said it can be quite tricky. I'll relist the project but if anyone seeing this can do the work let me know. This driver is the one thing stopping me from a working system with an insanley fast boot up :censored2: (15 sec with OSx, around 30 with Linux and 60 with Vista)

I too have a Toshiba A300 with the same GFX card and issues but my LAN doesn't work, may I ask how you got it working?

Sorry, don't remember exactly. I think it worked without issue using the Latest kalyway instalation. Though until the graphics driver issue is resolved everyhting else is quite a waste of effort, unless you only intend using it for word processing.

None of the graphics or video software will run without the proper driver.

I had the same issue with my Sony Vaio. After hours of trying different video drivers, finally found one that worked.

dellstudio.jeroenzelle.nl/ATI%20Display%20Driver/P108617.EXE

lootthecorehound.com/hosted/P108617.EXE (alternate link)

(Note: I didn't actually double click the exe, I extracted it with Universal Extractor and manually installed the driver. Your mileage may vary.)

Edit: Sorry, thought you guys were working in Windows. Ignore the above!

Hi Dyaus,

Can you confirm that you just said that you have installed on OSX an extracted piece of a windows .exe driver for mobility radeon hd 3650 and it works ?

That's a joke isn't it ?

My apologies -- I skimmed over this forum a little carelessly. Based on the bits I did read, I assumed you guys were working in Windows. Sorry! (And given the pain it was to get working in Windows XP, I wish you guys luck!)

snap picture 1ati mobility HD2xxx,3xxx,4xxx, 9.4 driver for xp 32bit simple steps:

1. download the latest ati desktop driver Catalyst 9.4.

2. download mobility modder.net (actually, it's not useful)

3. upzip ati driver to C:\ati

4. run mobility modder, locate the source to C:\ati, click modify until finished

5. open property of "My Computer", check the "hardware device", check the property of your mobility radeo n display card, it should be something like"PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9591&SUBSYS_FF1E1179" (FF1E1179 is id of TOSHIBA)

6. go to "C:\ATI\Support\9-4_xp32_dd\XP_INF" similar path, open "CX_78234" or "CX_xxxxx" inf file, add ""ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3650" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9591&SUBSYS_FF1E1179" to that list.

7. go to "C:\ATI\Support\9-4_xp32_dd" path, open "CX_78234" or "CX_xxxxx" inf file, under [WINXP], add"0x9591:0xFF1E1179," add",R6_97,R6_98,R6_99" after label, which is very important!!

8. go to "C:\ATI\Support\9-4_xp32_dd" path, open "INSTALL.inf" file, under [WINXP], add"0x9591:0xFF1E1179," add",R6_97,R6_98,R6_99" after label, which is very important!!

9. done! run "setup.exe" under "C:\ATI\Support\9-4_xp32_dd" path.

notice: the thick is that you should add "&SUBSYS_FF1E1179" to your inf file, and add "0x9591:0xFF1E1179" to two inf files, and very important add "R6_99" to two inf files.

if you miss "R6_99" in two inf files, the program will even not run to "&SUBSYS_FF1E1179" line. it seems check the label first.

cheers~
