So, if I were to walk into an Apple Store tomorrow, and put a USB flash key into a new MacBookPro, is there anything on the display models that would keep me from copying the Extensions folder?

Curious soley for educational purposes of course.

As long as Jason Chen quoted Jobs correctly ("The MacBooks ship today to hit stores tomorrow."), I'll run by the store on my way home tomorrow and see what is on the new MacBooks. Let me know of any others than the ones mentioned.

I think NV40hal is not needed. Anyway, just copy them.

I wonder that whether new Macbook Pro arrive at the stores. Only Macbook Pro have 9600GT.

just going out on a limb but it probably has something to do with this update

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/mac...reupdate12.html

but getting the kexts already extracted is probably safer than force installing an update that i'm not sure what it does.

agreed - stupid question here, but assuming its supports my card, and we get these new kexts, will i still have to put my device id in the plist of the 4 main kexts?

the 40hal, 50hal, nvdas, and geforce?

i would almost venture to say that the 9600M is not the same as the 9600GT cards

You are correct. 9600 GT is G94. 9600M GT is G96

It probably wont be compatible. If anything, you'll only be able to use the kext with other G96 chips:

9200GS, 9400GT, 9500 GT, 9600M GS/GT, 9700M GT

YEAH ! thats me! lol, 9600m GS - please someone - oh PLEASE upload those kexts!

again, i will have to edit the info.plist right? to add my device id?

Glad I called the Apple Store ahead of going in. The new books aren't on display today, but should be tomorrow. It'll be tougher for me to run by there tomorrow, but I'll try to see what I can do. Since they can be purchased today, we need to find someone that can pull the kexts off of their new purchase. :) Otherwise, I'll see what I can do tomorrow.
