Internal Mic (and External Mic) working for Gateway Laptops using Stac 9205 (reported working with Vostro and other DELLs)

XBC, Talisman, and overall gbonilla ( since I have a Dell 1525 as well ;-) ), the kext you posted is great and works much better than any other "9228" kexts I've tried on this machine. Plus, having the internal mic now working is A HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT! Much thanks! But, I've run into an issue. . .

The only time the kext seems to operate after reboot/restart is if I clear all kext/system caches and rebuild them prior to restarting the machine. A "normal" reboot will only present in having the sound inoperable once again.

Any ideas how I might clear this up and make the kext's loading and operation consistent? I'm using HDAEnabler.kext along with your kext. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'd hate to have to go back to a WAY inferior audio kext for this machine! Having to clear the caches everytime is not very productive.

Thanks!

The M1530 had the same problem because of incorrect pin config verbs. For more details and links look here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1010970

You might have to fix that or at least verify if it is correct in your kext. It is still doubtful whether this varies between different versions of the same card....

I've done a usefull app for making verbs from linux codec dumps. I haven't tested much, but if the codec file exists and it hasn't been modified it should work without trouble.

Just run it, choose file, and press do it. It will make three new files. For example:

1- Choose /Users/slashack/dump.txt

2- It will make /Users/slashack/dump.txt.first.txt /Users/slashack/dump.txt.second.txt /Users/slashack/dump.txt.final.txt

Each file is one of the steps from The King method for creating verbs. The one with the "final" word in it is the verb itself.

Hopes it helps, just tell me if there's anything wrong.

Ok, i'll reply to myself.

I corrected the verbs for my stac9228 and this is the current status.

- Internal Speakers/Headphones/Line Out switching works just fine, but there's no output from the line out (middle jack).

- External mic is working.

- Internal mic not working.

How much can i trust the codec graph? Or i should try and read the codec dump instead.

I made mods to Sigmatel 9200 for a friend that has a Dell Precision (previous gen).

The Internal Mic works (I added a Boost value of 20) but I don't know how to make the volume slider of the Mic appear, anyone knows how, here is the kexts if anyone wants it.

I'm happy

Autoswitching, internal mic, and anything working except the microphone volume control.

Fixing this things the driver will be perfect.

Cheers!

PS: I have to put to sleep my computer for activate the kexts. Good luck

I have a Vostro 1400 and for me everything worked except the internal mic, although it is showing 2 mics on sound properties.

I'm having a similar problem with my sound. Except I'm not getting any mic, internal mic, or sound output.

I have a gateway m6320 with Sigmatel 9205 (STAC9205) and I have tried several things nothing's working, I bet I'm doing something wrong.

I have attached my ubuntu dump txt and the AppleHDA kext I am using, I hope you can help

STAC9205.txt - My Ubuntu dump

AppleHDA.kext.zip - The AppleHDA I'm using

Am I missing a step? Thanks guys, you're an awesome help!

Anybody know where this Internal Mic boost is in the kext? I want to make it more than 20. Thanks for any help.

Has anyone managed to get the sliders working under sound input preferences? According to Slice they depend on nodes 24, 25, 26 on his 9228 (Pin Config). Is it possible that just a small modification of Slice's kext is necessary to make it work on a 9205?! (STAC9228 Kext)

Here I post my pinconfig dump taken from regedit:

THX in advance :P
