minus_273
I had quite a few issues getting 10.5.4 working on a Dell D600 Laptop. To spare others the trouble, here is a guide to get many things working. Wifi doesnt work for intel wifi users or usb mass storage either. I will update it as i get the rest working. This is a based on info from other forum posters. This guide was made for Jas 10.5.4 Dvd in the Jas installer select the following options (all are probably not needed but this worked for me) to get it to install correctly: 1. SSE2 kernel 2. AGPART 3. ApplePII 3. AppleGENERICSATA 4. Ac97 audio 5. ApplePS2nub 6.All of the intel plugins this will get audio, video, keyboard and mouse working. on another computer prepare a CD with the attached AppleBCM5701 ethernet kext. You need to do this since networking wont work without it and USB flash drives crash the system. replace the old AppleBCM5701 /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ with the one attached. then run the following: cd / cd /System/Library/Extensions/ ln -s IONetworkingFamily.kext com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily.kext rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions rm /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernelcaches/* kextcache -c reboot/code] This will get ethernet working the video is locked at a low resolution so do the following to get the native LCD resolution: com.apple.Boot.plist in the directory /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and add the following: <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1400x1050x32</string> reboot and the resolution is fixed. Just like ethernet install the contents of PCCard.zip to get the PCCard slot working. installl io80211 to get wifi working. If you have a broadcom chip on your wifi card wifi should work. WPC54g linksys card works with this driver Follow the steps here to get power management working. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=14912 follow thse instructions to get USB drives working http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=95789 If you cant boot properly off the battery when not plugged in, go to the BIOS and change it from minimal boot to through boot. AppleBCM5701Ethernet_1.kext.zip PCCard.zip IO80211Family.kext.zip
javamocha2000
Applied your method on Kalyway 10.5.2 and now I got the network connection as well as hi-video resolution.
javamocha2000
Applied same method on iDeneb 10.5.5 and got the same result. It took me 3 tries to install successfully though for iDeneb 10.5.5 v1.3.
newE
Hi, Minus, Could you pls give NBs a little details how to setup 10.5.4 on D600? I tried your procedure with Jas 10.5.4 several times but no luck. The kexts names listed at install are quite different to your guide. Is there another Jas 10.5.4 release? Can you give the exact names of each kext you figured out working? Thanks, newE
gndude
Okay I've got a Dell d600 and Ideneb V10.5.5 but I keep getting a panic on com.apple.driver.appleacpiplatform. When I installed the only option I selected was the 9.2 Kernel. Can anyone give me guidance as to what other options to select? I know I'll have limited video, but I just want to get it working to browse the web..
wace
Hi, I installed MacOS iDeneb V1.3 10.5.5 on a 1,4 GHz 1 GByte Dell D600 Latitude with the following options checked: Check your desired language pack X11 Audio = AC97Audio Chipset = ICHx Fixed and JMicronATA and SAS Kernel = Sleep (with Sleep my D600 freeze after some time.) or SpeedStep (not both) (not tested so far) Ethernet = AppleBC5751 Wireless = Broadcom Fix = select all in this section Acpi-fix Cpus=1-fix Applesmbbios FireWire remove Iousbfamilyfix Powermanagement Poweroff fix Video = do not select any option (none are compatible with dell d600) Application = select all in the section My D600 supports a resolution of 1400x1050, so after the installation finished change the resolution to 1400x1050. start a terminal: $sudo [-s -i] password: #cd /Library/Preferences/System Configuration #nano -w com.apple.Boot.plist and add the lines: <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1400×1050×32</string> With this configuration I got a fine working MacOS. iCal doesn't work. Don't know why, but I don't need it. thanks to javamocha2000 for help to get it well done let me know if you got it installed or if you got problems... mschilling
Hi Everyone, Let me just say that I started about a couple of days ago learning about the OSx86 project and the iATKOS 5i is the first one that I tried. I have a Dell D600, yes I know it´s a little bit old, but everything works wonderfully well except the ethernet, (Broadcom 570x). I tried to download the modified version and followed the instructions from this topic: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=130589 but for some reason it doesn´t work. I replaced the old AppleBCM5701 /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ with the modified one, then ran the command (which gave errors), then rebooted and as soon as i rebooted I got an error message saying that there was something wrong with the modified kext. What am I doing wrong? By the way, like I said, everything works wonderful, even the battery/power, audio, mouse, usb, video (i got that to the native resolution by adding <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1400x1050x32</string> in the boot.plist) but not the lan. Setting that I used: Chamaleon AppleDecrypt AppleSMBIOS-28 Kernel 9.20 ToH APIC driver Disabler.kext Remove Thermal kexts The rest unchecked. PROPS TO THE PEOPLE THAT MADE THIS!!! Got this from Zeus12 on the iATKOS v5i thread. I tried this recipe on my D600, and also tried successfully the PC EFI bootloader instead and, also the voodoo kernel. The SMBIOS choice above makes it appear as an imac, so maybe the Air one might be better, but I haven't tried it. Everything seems to work nicely, except sleep still doesn't work and ical still needs Rosetta. No big advantages over the previous Kaly 10.5.1/9.1, except everything is now up to date. Next step is to try updating to 10.5.6, although I think that will be best with the new voodoo to go with it.

javisep
go to the biosturn off speed step turn off LAN change the POST from minimal or automatic to Thorough I do exactly what you said, but when it starts loading it will reboot continuously. If I don't make the changes you say it will begin loading and then get stuck on the apple background while it goes into a perpetual loading phase.
