Wman
I want to build a mac pro (or something similar to it) with a mac pro or powermac g5 case, which I can get for one or two hundred dollars on ebay. Right now I have a white intel imac and a powermac g4 ( to be liquidated), but they can't handle my current needs. I don't know whether or not I should to Xeon or Opteron. Do AMD or Intel processors have any advantages over each other? Will they both work with a dual os (I really need both xp and osx)? Anyways. I need any general advice about this. And -- most importantly -- I need to figure out what parts to use. The plan to get a dual socket MB and one CPU now, and another later, when I have more money. So far, I am considering: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...&CatId=3692 for MB (if I use intel) one of these CPU's: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=220287744883 http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=300261839285 (its a good price but I'm not sure if I can afford both right now) http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=170253458831 I can get the case for about $200. Any other recommendations? And what os should I use? I am trying to also do the 250$ mac for my dad and make my old acer into a mac, but I haven't installed any OSX86 versions yet. PS: Im in high school so I'm poor, but I can afford it, so long as I budget well. And I want to do it so, please don't discourage me pointlessly XD -thx for any help
