Project: Refresh Rate Fix

is the generic graphics driver that OSX uses proprietary, or is it just part of the IOKit available as part of Darwin (IOGraphics)?

If it is, as a short term solution would it not be easy-ish to simply recompile this specifying a higher default refresh rate?

This would be a good temporary/permanent solution until the time if/when some 'real' graphics drivers are released.

I was trying to find this out this morning, but gave up after about half an hour, and spent the rest of the day fiddling with the boot loader, seeing if I could fix it there. But now I'm stuck because I have no idea how to install the modified boot loader. Copying all the files to /usr/standalone/i386 doesn't change anything, the old version still starts up (which shouldn't even be there anymore). But then again, the kernel probably resets the graphics mode anyway once it has control...
