razrVX
1.)my "ATI 3870X2" works perfect with GA-MA69VM-s2 (AMD) with => gfxstring, 3870X2.pkg & Triakis (both from irc.osx86.hu) 2.) ...but i changed my mobo to "GA-P35-DS4"(rev.2.1) with Q6600, used the same way to get it work, after reboot( kalyway 10.5.4, vanilla_kernel) only BLACK SCREEN! tried several ways, and it looks like NATIT causes the problem. hope this helps anybody. please forgive me my poor english (native: german). I think if using gfx-string in efi-boot you MUST remove all gpu injextors like natit or nvcrush.
razrVX
removed injectors, same result. but netkas wrote, that gfx-string works with natit, because atiradeonx2000.kext can´t.

So , if you use the SAME gfxstring, worked on other mainboard, it can be that the PCI-E slot has a different ID, which is within the gfxstring ! I would use EFISTUDIO (again) and create a new gfxstring for your new board, same GPU. You can find EFISTudio also in this tread.

mitch_de
You can also (like me for 3850) add an ATI 3870X2 TRIAKIS entry in the EFISTUDIO if your orig. entry (using Lamna Framebuffer) didnt get an screen or an scrambled screen. 1. Show contents in Finder of the EFIStUDIO 2. go into folder ressources 3. copy the orig. ATI 3870X2 ...plist to desktop or somewhere else 4. edit this file: change all Lamna into Triakis (dont forget to change LamnaParent into TriakisParent also) 5. save that edited file as ATI 3850X2 TRIAKIS with .plist fileextension (not ...txt.plist, only .plist and pure unformated textfile !) 6. copy tha new file into same folder as the orig. .plist (now there are ..X2 and ..X2 TRIAKIS.plist) 7. start EFISTUDIO and selext the new entry ..X2 TRIAKIS - last ckeck if all listed strings contain Triakis and NO-ZERO Lamna anymore! 8. install the ATINDRV.KEXT from my Thread ATI3850/70 EFISTUDUIO Mod with an INSTALL KEXT HELPER util or OSX86TOOL. 9. reboot
razrVX
@mitch_de 1. there was nothing(lamna) to change in 3800x2_1024mb. there was just triakis. 2. added this string to apple.com.boot.plist 3. installed your atindrv.kext with osx86tools 4.reboot 5.black screen. 6.i´m getting

Does other DVI port work ? Try to look in the system.log after such a black screen boot, using the the save boot ( -x). I think that gives you a screen(Framebuffer, 1024x768, NOCI/NOQE). Perhaps here are some information, errors for the jnjectors/gfxstring professionals.
razrVX
UPDATE: now i can see in profiler a 3800X2 with 512mb but only in safe mode. used netkas method. changed my gfxstring to: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x2,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)/Pci(0xc,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)</key> <dict> <key>@0,compatible</key> <string>ATY,Triakis</string> <key>@0,device_type</key> <string>display</string> <key>@0,display-connect-flags</key> <string>0x34323031</string> <key>@0,name</key> <string>ATY,Display-A</string> <key>@1,compatible</key> <string>ATY,Triakis</string> <key>@1,device_type</key> <string>display</string> <key>@1,display-connect-flags</key> <string>0x34323031</string> <key>@1,name</key> <string>ATY,Display-B</string> <key>ATY,EFIVersion</key> <string>01.00.207</string> <key>ATY,EFIVersionBios</key> <string>113-B22501-X22B</string> <key>ATY,FrameBufferOffset</key> <string>512</string> <key>ATY,Rom#</key> <string>113-B2250F-207</string> <key>ATY,VRAM,MemSize</key> <string>512</string> <key>ATY,memsize</key> <string>268435456</string> <key>ATY_EFIEnabledMode</key> <string>0x32</string> <key>VRAM,totalsize</key> <string>268435456</string> <key>device_type</key> <string>ATY,TriakisParent</string> <key>model</key> <string>ATI,RadeonHD3870X2</string> <key>name</key> <string>ATI Radeon HD 3870X2 EFI</string> </dict> </dict> </plist> without natit, i can´t see the name of my card. Tanariel
Hello, I got the same problem here with the GA P35-DS3P motherboard. I tryed all the tutorials and natit versions for the X2 i found on the net, but i always get the black screen with some crazy pixels around. I must admit that i left the idea to have my 3870x2 working on OSX for now, but i'll keep a look at this thread. Thanks to anyone that could provide some help

I dont know why the VRAM sizes are different in the 3870X2 .plist (orig), but that may not be the only problem. Something is wrong with that (It isnt problem of the EFISTUDIO app, its the used gfxstring from other dev-people, maybe a first try for 3870X2. I dont know WHO made this gfxstring for 3870X2 ( must be the netkas people).
