Hi I was wondering if someone would be so kind as to help me to get graphics working.

I have installed iATKOS 10.5.4 with everything working except the graphics. In the system profiler it states

Display:

Type: Display

Bus: PCI

VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)

Device ID: 0x02e1

Revision ID: 0x00a2

Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded

Displays:

Display:

Resolution: 1024 x 768

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Software

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

Does anyone know what Kext I need to load to correct this.

Or how to enable Quartz extreme.

Im assuming these are the reasons why I can't change the resolution.

If someone could please tell me what to do or point me in the correct direction.

Thanks

EDIT - Even though it states PCI above my card is AGP, I have corrected this now using AGPGart

OK, then check if you have these files in your extensions folder:

Geforce.kext

NVDANV40Hal.kext (for 5xxx 6xxx and 7xxx)

NVDAResman.kext

NVkush needs them because these kexts are the actual drivers. You can find them on the install DVD.

I have sorted it out and its all thanks to xfidelity. I used his qe/ci patch which is in his sig on the follwing link

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...171entry5

It gives all resolutions and quartz extreme support.

Alls I did was download it, copy and paste all the files to system/library/extensions, Repair permissions and booted with -v.

im so happy that i have it working.

Thanks xfidelity

EDIT: After a few reboots with this without actually changing anything else my install died. I tried it again and the same happened. Very strange. I adv if you are going to use this be careful. Ensure to back up everything you need just in case.

I would also like to thank Yutani for trying to help and being the only person to.

Much appreciated mate.

Thank You

After using the driver that was in xfidelity's sig, my videocard worked, and I could set the right resolutions, but my system was very slow & choppy, and I had artifacts.

Then I used the nvInject installer made by macnub.

System is working stable nog with the right desktop resolution, but I have no QE/CI... Wheeee :)

Another option is to use the Prawker universal geforce installer.

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...l=menu&st=0

It states for 10.4 only but it has worked on my 10.5.4 install.

The whole process is very hit and miss.

The first time I installed the Prawker option it worked and then died.

The second time I tried the prawker installer it killed my install.

I rebuilt and tried again, only this time I added my Device ID into Geforce.kext, NVDANV40Hal.kext, NVDAResman.kext, and changed all the PCI parts to AGP, so IOPCIdevice became IOAGPdevice and so on. Then I rebooted and had the option to change the resolution. I rebooted a couple of times to ensure this was going to work, and all is good so far.

Doing this never enabled QE/CI so im still trying to find a way to do that and ensure my install stays stable. If in any way it is not I will just leave it as i know id rather have a smooth system without it than a non stable system with it.

Ill post back if I discover anything that may help

EDIT - I'm starting to get the feeling that im fighting a loosing battle. I think if I cant get it going in the next couple of days im just going to leave it until someone releases a fool proof installer or something.

So you had QE/CI working, then used the NVinject and now you dont?

Right.

But when QE/CI was working, I really wasn't able to do anything, with the weird artifacts and such.

I'll try that Prawlker thingie now, thanks :)

EDIT: Well that didn't work for me. I keep having a black screen, even after 5 restarts.

I hope I can get some video output again... I really don't wanna reinstall again :P

EDIT2: Back at dual display, native resolutions, but no QE/CI :)

EDIT3: If you find anything about enabling QE/CI let me know :D

I'm going to try this out, but my card is AGP so who knows, but its probably the best option I have.

Ill post back and let you know.

If it works then the 7600 GS is fully supported and working. How cool will that be.

EDIT - Well that didnt quite go as I had hoped. It totally destroyed my OSX install. I have decided that AGP is {censored} and im going to invest in a new PCI-E graphics card. Once Ive got that im going to carry on and see what happens.

I would like everyone who has a 7600 GS whether it be AGP or PCI-E to keep posting here, as I believe it will be very beneficial for other users with our issue.
