rodti Posted August 14, 2008 Share Posted August 14, 2008 Hi there, I've installed Kalyway's 10.5.3 on my AMD 3400+ (Asus K8VSE (VIA K8T800)) and just about everything works fine. It's a little prone to crashing but it's running and that's enough for me. Before attempting the install I'd read up on Bronya's drivers which seemed to work for most people, and have tried several installs. I've searched through the forums several times but can't fix it, so hope you don't mind my starting a new thread. I've installed Bronya's drivers for 10.5.3 for product id 7280 1002, following his instructions, although I was a little lost as to how to get the .kexts etc into the /System/Library/Extensions folder. I've tried copying them in Finder and in Terminal (using cp -R) and in both cases I had errors pop up regarding each driver. I changed permissions, ownership etc and removed the caches. This left me with a black screen on boot (after the grey boot logo), and I've tried both DVI ports. I noticed that some people had more success by installing jccool's X1950 XT pack and then installing Bronwyn's kexts over the top using the above method. Two problems, the first being that most of jccool's installers seem to be for EFI (I'm using MBR), and the only non-EFI 'update' one only seemed to install a couple of files.The second problem was that any combination of jccool and Bronwyn's drivers appears to fail. Also tried the 'Dmitri' drivers. No dice. Am I doing something hopelessly wrong here? I'm rather frustrated as I'm a Mac user and have a fair bit of UNIX experience, and everyone else with X1950 Pros seems to be sorted out already! If I use dmitri's 1950pro edited for dual dvi, i get qe/ci working but my menu is completly transparent, screen savers dont work. I didnt use any natit or agpgart. I'm now combining atindrv, atirmdrv and natit to see if i can get the menu and screen savers fixed. If anyone has any idea that might help us, please do tell!
