I've been trying to get my Realtek 8169 working for the past week on Iatkos v4i. While I've had success it would suddenly die on me some days when I started up my machine. I actually found the fix in a linux forum.

The problem comes into place when you dual boot with windows. For some reason due to a driver update, windows shuts down the card when it closes windows and will not turn it back on until windows starts again. To fix this you can change the "wake up on lan" setting under the device manager as well as in the bios. Then turn off your computer and unplug the cable for about ten seconds to let the card reset. Next boot it should work perfectly.
