Strange "pixies" issue with 7300GT & 7900GT cards

I have this weird issue with both of my 256mb 7x00-series NVIDIA cards...when I first boot up, I get these weird "pixies". Certain areas of the screen have sparkling pixels, almost like dead pixels. They disappear if I turn the monitor off then on. This doesn't happen on either of my 8x00-series cards. I've tried different drivers, same deal. I've had this issue on both my Bad Axe 2 system and my Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L system. The monitor is a 24" Dell LCD. It's a minor issue and is fixable with a couple of quick presses of the monitor power button, but I don't understand why I'm having them. It's specific to the 7x00-series cards. I've talked with other 7x00 card owners, include those with the exact same make/model of my card - zero issues. It also sometimes exhibits the problem as thin blue horizontal lines that flash across the screen, again fixed with an initial monitor restart after booting up.

Any ideas?

green pixels that flash all over the screen? i get the exact same thing. i'm using a 7600gs and a samsung syncmaster 205bw. i think it's something to do with DVI. i found the problem goes away when using a VGA. saying that, i have an HD tv coming from the 2nd DVI port and no issues with that. i've tried swapping DVI cables and everything but no luck. i've had this problem since tiger 10.4.8 though so if it hasn't been resolved since then i doubt that's going to change any time soon. i wonder if it may be monitor specific also because i recall having that same problem with my old x1600. i remember it working fine up until i switched from the koverg method to an injector. let us know if you make any progress. while not a huge problem it can be somewhat irritating.

regards,

Marc
