Plasmafusion
Days ago I disabled HyperThreading on my two Intel Xeon Nocona 2.8GHz CPUs. Basically just to speed up some Windows apps. Today I wondered why VMware freezes my Mac 10.4.5 virtual machine whenever I configured VMware to use 2 CPUs. Tried platform=ACPI and without any boot parameters, tried platform=X86PC etc. Short answer: With HyperThreading enabled, VMware support 2 CPUs for Mac just fine. Disable HyperThreading and VMware-Mac will become instable and freezes when dual-CPU mode is enabled in VMware.
