Well here we go. I got a new compile of MPlayer for you people.

Basically It's a new CVS pull of both mplayer and ffmpeg.

Applied the patches from the VLC guys to libavcodec so it uses optimized code now :hysterical:

Compiled with OSD menu (needs additional steps to enable, consult readme and mplayer manual)

MusePack support.

Using a few more libraries fribidi, libogg, libtheora, libenca etc.. (really hope I didn't leave any of those out)

Going to release only the command line compile this time thought better of it.. I'll upload one with the gui as well.

New release with doubleplay fix and using the official gui(check page2 for a screenie), try this one first: http://rapidshare.de/files/16003669/MPlaye...al_gui.zip.html

New release with unofficial gui: http://rapidshare.de/files/15768472/MPlaye...th_gui.zip.html

Just the command line version: http://rapidshare.de/files/15401433/MPlaye...060310.zip.html

Source tree: http://rapidshare.de/files/15400864/MPlaye...rc.tar.bz2.html

OLD release with GUI: http://rapidshare.de/files/4806766/mplayer...sdlfix.zip.html

Mencoder release with GUI and Windows Media Video 9 transcoding support:

http://rapidshare.de/files/15190249/mencod...libvc1.zip.html

Addition to the original readme on colorspaces/filterchains:

I recommend -vf yuvcsp -vo macosx instead of just -vf yuvcsp for this version

The Gui Version works good :)

Yes, well the GUI is just a frontend to the command line player so you can put this new compile into the gui :) Instructions available in the readme :hysterical:

The Picture.... Stargate Atlantis.... GREAT! :)

Not useable on my non-qe/ci laptop! :-(

It's tooooooo slow! even with half size it's to slow!

But it works!

Did you check the "unsupported gfx" filter chains in the readme?

But yeah it will be generally CPU intensive without CI/QE

what the major changes on gui?

i`ve deleted the pref files from my older version

but this new one still looks at the same.

That's because it is. Only the mplayer core was updated (newer compile, musepack support, optimized libavcodec, etc..) the GUI was not changed. But it's "under-the-hood" that counts anyway =)

GUI version doesn´t play musepack ,sorry.

I still need to use ´Cog´ PPC .

*grumble* *grumble* :poster_oops: Forgot to add .mpc to the extensions list in the info.plist..

Changed the download link in top post to point to the fixed version, please download again (or add mpc to the audio extensions in info.plist manually, whichever you feel like doing)

I hope musepack's only extension is .mpc :D

Ok ,i've added mpc and it works now.

And i could see wmv in there too but it starts and no image at all.

Thanks

Yes WMV support is limited.. I think pre-WMV9 files could play but so far there's no open source WMV9 codec. (libvc1 isn't open source and is too slow to use for realtime decoding, not to mention that the new CVS apparently doesn't even use it anymore) Hence why they made the Win32 codec loader which would use a windows codec dll to do the job. Which is why I keep saying that someone should port the damn thing :(

Well, I found a possible bug

If I use mplayer with subtitles, as long as I stay on window they are ok, If I go in full screen, the subtitles are flickering.... Also, is no playlist on this version of mplayer that working and .... is missing support for 5.1 sound - in fact, vlc is the only app that give me sound on 5.1 !

Could you tell which video output module does the subtitles flicker with (sdl, macosx, quartz)? If sdl then do you have CI/QE support?

Don't know about the playlist, should work like the previous version. MPlayer will most of the time play things twice because of some annoying bug I couldn't uproot (and that appears to affect more systems so isn't specific to this compile) But as I know just about no C I don't think I'll be able to fix that. (It's been reported at least twice already to the mplayer devs though)

Try adding -channels 6 to the additional parameters, please. (I don't have 5.1 so I won't be able to test that one)

As I said in the previous post, for 5.1 "Try adding -channels 6 to the additional parameters, please." and tell me the results as I have no idea if that works, but according to forum posts it should enable 5.1 sound.

I will check out the subtitles sometime, try using SDL or quartz in the meantime, or install MPlayer Raw Fonts and try with that.

As I said. MPlayer will play things twice effectively crippling playlist use. Not my fault, and don't know enough C to fix it, as I said It's been submitted as a bug report to MPlayer devs who didn't do much about it til now.

Dunno about that. M$ did release Windows Media Player for OSX for a while. Don't know if they're planning a unibin or not.. or if they're still doing it at all

!!!!PLAYLIST FIX!!!!

One learns something every day I guess. In my case what MPlayer gui devs mean by "preflighter" an utterly useless symlink to mplayer used for checking the duration of a file before adding it to the playlist. And.. I don't have that. That's why the playlist doesn't work. But like I said to tokra128, even if it did.. you'd have to manually jump around in it anyway as mplayer plays things twice because of that stupid bug.

EDIT: okay it's originally NOT a symlink rather a stripped version of mplayer that's only used for getting the file duration apparently.. Which I think is a waste of space. It probably doesn't steal the menubar for a second or two when it starts but that's not really something I'd do a recompile for :-) Plus the official gui doesn't have a stupefied mplayer like that so a symlink will suffice here.

That said, to enable playlist, open terminal

cd to where MPlayer OSX CVS060310.app is, then follow these steps:

1. cd MPlayer\ OS\ X\ 2\ CVS060310.app/Contents/Resources/

2. ln -s mplayer.app/Contents/MacOS/mplayer preflighter

3. restart Mplayer

Updated link in top post to point to the fixed version.

Well this is strange and confusing.. I compiled mplayer again and now it doesn't play things twice.. Though I've changed absolutely nothing in the source as far as I know. Besides SDL headers by mistake. :)

I'll have a new version up sometime later

http://rapidshare.de/files/16003669/MPlaye...al_gui.zip.html

Changes:

With official GUI (kindof experimental, and no video window integration)

Common filterchains for both supported and unsuppored gfx can now be selected through the gui without a need to enter them manually.

Added a subfont.ttf and two config files to mplayer.app so the OSD menu can now be brought up by

* Adding -menu to the additional parameters, and pressing M on the video window.

The doubleplay bug somehow disappeared..

The playlist works.
