But your computer is a M50Sv ? Mine is not exactly the same as The King but it works (cpu: T9300).

But may be we are not using the same install of OSX. I'm using the one from Kaliway

I've done the installation in this order :

- installed Kalyway 10.5.2,

- installed the bootfix

- Installed the 10.5.3 comboupdate from kaliway.

- patched the time difference with vista

- patched the ethernet

- installed the sound

- installed gfx plist

- update to 10.5.4

- installed Chun-Nan AppleACPIBatteryManager for the batteries

i haven't installed yet the bluetooth.

I think you should reinstall everything. But be sure to use kaliway 10.5.2

What did you do to get these two things to work?

For the Bootfix, I've downloaded it here : http://rapidshare.com/files/65965115/files.rar.html

Then you unpack it on an usb key, call the key 123.

After having installed kalyway, launch the terminal, and do this :

sudo -s

diskutil list

fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX (X is the HD where OSX is installed)

update

f Y ( Y is the partition where is OSX)

w

ok? y

q

cd /Volumes/123/files/bootfix

./dd if=/usr/standalone/i386/boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s4 bs=512 count=1

sudo diskutil unmount /Volumes/volume_mac (this line doesn't work for me, it does want to unmount the OSX's partition, but it doesn't matter)

./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdiskXsY /usr/standalone/i386/boot

Now you don't need the DVD to launch OSX

For the ethernet, I've modified the file The King said in this tutorial and restart the computer.

Then i've installed this : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=26596

wait few seconds and OSX will recognize the ethernet.

Thanks so much, my ethernet is working now. But when I try to enter in those lines of code it comes up with: bash: ./dd: Permission denied

I have got my folders and stuff right, but i just cant get this to execute.

Any ideas?

Also, has anyone had any problems with the USB drives not working correctly, mine don't seem to work with external devices such as my ipod and usb flash drive. My usb mouse however, works fine...

I noticed this today, there is also a problem with Mkv files. The video is good but the sound has problem. I'll check if i can find something for it, or if you know, be my guest :)

Sure use VLC for that kind of files or latest Perian, thats not sound driver problem, but OS yes.

So once again i gotta thank you The king. The problem isn't solved with VLC. But i've downloaded the last update for Perian and it is working perfectly.

By the way, i have a weird thing. When i'm under OS X i can't post reply or new topic in this forum. The page never loads neither in safary nor in firefox. But in Vista, it works perfectly. Strange

I'll check if i can find a topic about how to make working shortcut (like brightness, sound volume, ...)

Hi kmikase,

Can you please run this command on terminal:

sysctl machdep.cpu && uname -a

Copy the results and paste them on www.pastebin.com

Also do u have any problem with about this mac(vanilla)? I mean do u have CPU model on it or is unknown?

Thanks.

Here is a link to fix the shutdown issue:

Trust me I tried them all including acpiplatform hex hack, dosen't work!

Still i have random shutdown problems and that with latest StageXNU kernel that have shutdown/reboot fix on it!!

So the problem remain....not like w/o fixes but still is not 100% functional.

No, About this mac recognizes the good cpu.

Again, just to be sure, did you use any fixes for that like about this mac fix?

Asking b/c on vanilla install, on me is "unknown"

Maybe works for you b/c you have custom dvd installation, that might have this fix included, and not vanilla install.

No i have only vanilla kernel. I've installed the link aboutthismac you've put in this tutorial.

Well, in fact the shutdown fix has worked only once. But restart and shutdown have always worked, but it takes a while to shutdown (like 30 sec with black screen)

Picture_2.png

After some (a lot of) days i figured out a temporary solution for missing Fn keys.

Lets see first what works and what dosen't by default:

Fn+F1=sleep works

Fn+F2=wifi/bt switch works

Fn+F3=mail app dosen't work

Fn+F4=launch browser dosen't work

Fn+F5/F6=brightness control works

Fn+F7=LCD on/off works

Fn+F8=LCD/VGA switch dosen't work -> Warning! dont use it! I got instant restart when I press that combination!

Fn+F9/F10/F11/F12 dosent work

Prt Sc key is not assigned

Application key(next after right alt) is not assigned

Fn+T=modem on/off dosen't work

Fn+C=dunno what does/dosen't work

Fn+V=my guess screen capture dosen't work

Fn+Space same as first hotkey button dosen't work

Fn+media play buttons(arrows keys) dosent work

The rest are working if I don't miss some...

So what is that temporary solution?

ControllerMate and some AppleScripts.

I just replace Fn key with Left Shift on some keys, and on combined one Left Ctrl.

Lets see what is temporary fixed for now:

!Remember the base replacement is Fn=Left Shift when is Left Control I will mentioned it!

LShift+F3=launch Mail.app(you can change it in the script)

LShift+F4=launch Firefox(you can change it with your browser in the script)

LShift+F10=mute with bezel

LShift+F11=vol down with bezel

LShift+F12=vol up with bezel

Prt Sc key=automated screen capture saved as .png on desktop

Application key=launch Colloquy(you can change it in the script)

LShift+down arrow=play/pause iTunes

LShift+up arrow=quit iTunes(stop key dosen't exist on apple one)

LShift+right arrow=iTunes next track

LShift+left arrow=iTunes previous track

LCtrl+up arrow=iTunes vol up

LCtrl+down arrow=iTunes vol down

LCtrl+left arrow=iTunes rewind

LCtrl+right arrow=iTunes fast forward

*You should know that iTunes must run in background, if is on main screen the default arrow function will take over defined one by controller mate!

So what do you need to make this running?

1. ControllerMate

2. This ApplePS2Controller.kext use KextHelper or OSX86Tools to install it/backup yours first!

3. And this ControllerMate Saved Configuration

*You should know that ControllerMate only allows 10 modifications, after that you should but it if you want more...

Just import that configuration and you are ready to go!

There are some fn keys that are not now configured, but I must first find what dosen't conflict with default apple shortcuts, and I'm pretty bored of this for now!

I will update this, maybe, on first page if I cant find a solution to make FN key working.

Enjoy!

L.E. I found a great app for win only(sad) ASUS Notebook Keys that allows you to remap Media and Fn keys, so I was able to catch those events for not working Media Buttons and Fn keys, also the SOURCE is available maybe in combination with this ACPID - acpi event daemon (for linux if someone can port it for osx) we can get them working as it should...

Multimedia trackpad functions/actions still cant be catched even with this app that make me think is covered only by Synaptys driver, still a weird thing if i set on win trackpad always on multimedia mode(when external mouse is detected) light remain open on trackpad even on OS X but dosent turn off when i take out the external mouse, somehow that driver function set up an ACPI flag... I must investigate this more.

Here are the captured flags:

Media arrows keys:

Fn +"":

->: Event: 0x41

<-: Event: 0x40

^ : Event: 0x43

v : Event: 0x45

Functions (Fn + F1-F12) That dosent work:

Fn +"":

F3: Event: 0x50

F4: Event: 0x51

F8: Event: 0x61

F9: Event: 0x68

F10: Event: 0x32

F11: Event: 0x31

F12: Event: 0x30

Keyboard keys that dosent work (+Fn):

Fn +"":

T: Event: 0x99

C: Event: 0x8A

V: Event: 0x82

Space: Event: 0x5C

Media button key:

Button 1: Event: 0x5C ---> same function as Fn+Space=Launch Power4Gear

Button 2: Event: 0x6B

Button 3: Event: 0x5C

Button 4: Event: 0x95

Work in progress :D

I've installed the M50S modded bios found there : http://osrom.net/biosmod/

Then i think i've pretty much done what you've done.

I don't know if it could be the reason, but i'm using French keyboard (which is really different from other keyboards :glare: )

I'll check, because for example Fn+f7 and fn+f8 work

Well, i discoved today that my old Wifi dongle (Sagem XG-760N) given by my internet provider works perfectly with OS X

Hi, I have a Asus G1s, with adual boot vista/xp, and I have installed Kaly on an external HDD (2 partitions: Data and OSX).

I've downloaded the bootfix files (http://rapidshare.com/files/65965115/files.rar.html)

and unpacked it on the root of a pendrive that I called 123.

Ran kalyway 10.5.2, launched the terminal, and wrote:

sudo -s

diskutil list

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk2 (2 because it is installed on the external HD)

update

f 2 ( because is it on the 2nd partition)

w

ok? y

q

cd /Volumes/123/files/bootfix

./dd if=/usr/standalone/i386/boot1h of=/dev/rdisk2s2 bs=512 count=1

sudo diskutil unmount /Volumes/OSX

./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdisk2s2 /usr/standalone/i386/boot

Then I rebooted on vista, used Easybcd and created a OSX86 entry in C:

When I rebooted I arrived to the vista bootloader

Then chose the OSX entry but I get a black screen....

What did I do wrong?

Lets ask few question first.

Before repairing Vista, did you tried if the bootfix was working ?

So if you're in vista, it means that you've already repair it, so you've activated vista partition (only 1 partition can be active)

In easybcd, your default boot is vista, so you have to add an entry.

Select Mac, then generic X86 Pc

Reboot, choose the boot for mac then press a key and select the partition where is OS X (you have to do it everytime because OS X partition isn't the active partition by default

Hi, I have a Asus G1s, with adual boot vista/xp, and I have installed Kaly on an external HDD (2 partitions: Data and OSX).

1. Why do you need boot fix? You didn't explain, and if OS X is installed on second hdd Vista is just fine don't need to be repaired. ;)

2. Why do you try to use vista bootloader to boot an external hdd, it is not much simple to press Esc on boot and select second hdd from list? :)

3. What have all this with ASUS M50SV notebook?
