Firstly thanks to everyone who worked on getting OSX86 to the current state. Very impressed that using Kalyway it just worked. Seem to have everything bar accelerated video and wireless internet. The latter is an easy fix. I just need to replace my 3945ABG with a broadcom 4311 I think. The former is proving more painful. TBH I don't care about acceleration. VESA is fast enough for most stuff I want to do, but I'd like to be able to use 1680x1050 and that isn't one of the VESA modes on the video card...

Anyway I'm trying to work out what I need to do to get the 7950 Go working with the nvidia drivers on my Clevo M570U. I've already managed to break (and fix) the laptop once so I'm proceeding with caution now. I flashed a bad ROM (see http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?...=a&start=15 and preceding post for details), but got it fixed (thanks to Grains BIOS repair who are good at desoldering and flashing ics!). It didn't allow a blind flash since it wouldn't get past POST.

The questions:

i) Does anyone have this combination working? I've seen several people getting close - though with the external display issue...

ii) Looks like external display issues are fixable via NVCAP. Seems better understood these days. NVCAP is an OS X nvidia driver config (plist?) file right?

iii) Looks like EFI strings are being suggested as an alternative to injectors these days. If I go the EFI string route do I need to flash the ROM? i.e. its not using the PC BIOS directly any more is it?

iv) Has anyone tried the Clevo 7950 Go ROM file from the nvinject site? I can't find where this file came from and if it works...

v) What do the injectors do? Mirror and patch the vbios? If that was the case not sure why people need to flash...

I've read about a billion tutorials, but not getting much closer here:-(

Thanks,

Mark

Just wondering... Is no-one answering because this is a stupid obvious question and I haven't done background reading? I did try, but am confused by the myriad of posts. Or does no-one know any of the answers?

Of course no-one is obliged to help in any way, but I'd appreciate any comments:-)

Thanks,

Mark
