you are totally inspiring with all of your hackintosh modding. Thank you for all of the hard work. I would like to manufacture some of the custom steel pieces like you do. Could you post a little "how to" on the custom pieces?

Thanks

Hi onemanstrash,

I will try to look up the drawings that I did to make these pieces, they were only pencil tech drawings but I guess I could scan them and post them here. They are still at work and I am away for a few days so it will have to wait till the weekend.

That is so badass!!!! lol, how on earth did you get two nvidia cards working in an crossfire chipset? EFI strings of course, but what was the exact procedure? Was it as simple as adding another device property to the plist?

Hi Jae-V,

As you can see, both cards are dealt with separately. This also allows for the possibility of running two cards that are different to each other.

You have some interesting things there, are any of those things for making the GPU fan slow down depending on the temperature or use? My 7800GS fan always goes to 50% whenever there's a composited desktop (QE or Aero) and in Vista it eventually slows down, it gets annoying with it going all the time.

w0w.... i'm sure you've said this b4 but what tools do you use.... it you have a metal shop you go to or what?

Aqua have said that it took him big time cause he did it himself , but he hasn't specified the tools he used.

"I got a quote to do the bottom panel from a local engineering place and they quoted me £160 + VAT. That was why I did it myself, but it took me a long time (did it over 3 months). I made mine from 5 mm stainless steel, milled out the bottom and drilled with a pillar drill."

Hi Ultimeus,

That part comes as part of the case and I cannot find it available separately anywhere. Did your case come without one? I have noticed a few modders have fitted a tray and not used that part. May be worth a pm to see if they might sell it to you.

That's what i was thinking about that part, I have mac G5 case but i going to replace back and motherboard plate with a lian li wich have a 120 fan, for keeping mac look I'm looking for that grill.

I can't find any on net, i'm going to ask in a apple store.

I said it before and ill say it again, your mac pro is amazing :)

Your running two 9800s, right? Is that setup as a purely windows machine?

How did you manage to get two non-apple certified cards to work? are they in SLI or just multi monitor setup?

Is there any higher level card you can run or is the 9800 series the highest for the moment?

Also, what power supply did you use? and how hard was it to fit?

Really sorry for all the questions, its just that i havent been on here in a good while, and i now have the money to build a proper hackintosh.

Any help would be really appreciated mate.

9800's are running in OSX. It's about the top card at the moment. They cannot work in SLi in OSX though even though they are setup that way, they are seen as 2 separate cards that can run 4 monitors (I currently run 2 + a plasma screen. They can be run on a hackintosh but not on a real mac pro yet). The power supply is a 600 watt PS:

This One

Which has no problems driving the cards + a Quad Core processor.

Good luck with your build!

Thanks for the info mate :D

Ive just ordered an asus maximus formula 2 (p45 chipset) along with a BFG 9800gtx, so ill hopefully get my macpro project up and running.

Id love to buy a macpro at the moment but with nahalem just around the corner i want to wait until after that to make the plunge.

For now i think that a overclocked hackintosh will do nicely....

thanks for the inspiration man, im glad to see that you decided to cut the whole in the bottom like we discussed, i think i might have to do the same thing myself as stretching the case height would be very difficult.
